My brother-in-law wanted a weekend golf experience. We stayed one night and played two rounds. They provided a caddy for our first round who gave us tips on playing the course, spotted our shots, and raked a lot of sand trap shots. The course is challenging but in a good way. If I was a long hitter, the black tees set to up the ante a pit. The experience included free drinks and food along the course. Two clubhouses along the course offered free food, snacks, water, coffee, beer, and mixed drinks. However, this is not the type of course where you want to drink too much, or it would be way too challenging. We ate at PJs and had excellent service. We got four different pizzas with fresh ingredients and a nice wood-fired oven crispy crust. They had a decent list of taps, but in Stevens Point, one does have to honor the Point Brewery. The hotel stay had lovely, clean, quiet, and comfortable rooms. We had access to the Executive Lounge with refreshments and a not balcony overlooking the course and the back of the beautiful 16th hole. All staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. Please not that the staff working the course do not have tip jars out, but please remember to tip your caddy and the staff nicely. This little Wisconsin gem is worth visiting for a few nights and a few...
Read moreThis is a delayed review from my trip in early summer. We visited a week or two after the opening and weren't told until we drove over three hours that their new experience wasn't available. Their hot food stations were not up yet so they discounted our cost but we were so disappointed because we came in starving thinking we'd get to eat and we got nothing but chips, candy, and a few deli sandwiches. We would not have travelled so far for an incomplete experience and we would have preferred to be told that they weren't ready yet when we called to book the tee time. Then I (a ride-along) took a tee shot for a video on the flower hole but wasn't actually playing golf or even getting out of the cart the entire round but we got confronted by a man who seemed like he understood and then we noticed that we were being watched from a distance the rest of the round. It was just an uncomfortable and negative experience for us. The course was beautiful and we wish we got to enjoy it the way it was meant to be, especially considering they spent years on the renovation....
Read moreShort summary: The practice facilities are overrun by a college golf, and they continued to be overrun every single evening of our trip. Go to Sand Valley instead.
I came for a late summer golf vacation, and after a morning round, I wanted to go chip with some buddies. We turn the corner, and the practice facilities are overrun by a college golf team. Every single hole on the putting green had at least 3 golfers and the chipping area had 7+. Is sentry world now a home golf course for a local college? I would’ve thought they just held a meet, but it was like this literally every single evening. It really diminished the atmosphere. Just go to sand valley.
I should add that when they weren’t at the practice they took the entire range. Now that I think about it, this may be their home course. One of the kids working kept bringing the team large buckets of balls to hit which is representative of a...
