Being a student of Feng Shui, I had to visit this home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The $33 fee that includes the tour was most spectacular shortly after entering the home and seeing the falls from the terrace overhead. The tour guide, Don H became personally offended upon my considerately formed statement that it was difficult to hear him at the start of the tour, as he stood on the noisy running water side of the path, rather than where the bushes were, however I did not point out this as a solution to him as I'm certain it would not have been a welcomed contribution. His clarity in being offended with me was definite, but in his continuance of the tour, his eyes looked ONLY upon a young male child likely not older than 7 during each of his discourses. While relaxing a bit more near the end, it was very relieving for all in the tour to be...
Read moreI'm probably slightly biased on my five star review, seeing as how I've been obsessed with falling water since I was a little boy. But don't let that stop you from visiting. Whether you're a fan of architecture or not, this sprawling home, designed by famous architect Frank Llyod Wright, is absolutely breath taking. From walking the wooded grounds, to taking in all the detail inside the home, it will stop you in your tracks. And being a fan of Wright and all of his works this was an incredible experience for me. So if you are a fan I highly recommend seeing this home for yourself. Tickets are relatively inexpensive, but you need to be sure to get them ahead of time, for you do need a reservation. Honestly I think the drive alone is worth it, it's so beautiful, absolutely worth every penny to...
Read moreWent to find reported Swainson’s warbler(s) being seen/heard along the Black/Red Trail. Ran into 3 researchers finishing their day mist netting this southern warbler (and other woodland species) that has been confirmed breeding in the Bear Run rhododendron thickets. Also heard or saw several warblers that breed in southern PA only at higher elevations. Parking was abundant and the trailhead off the upper lot was easy to find. The White, Blue, Red, and Black trails start together and are well marked and are easy to follow. Each is shown as a loop trail on the kiosk at the lot. Well-maintained on the 0.9 miles of Red/Black Trails I walked that...
