Four Daughters is so lovely, I love this winery so much! They have a great wine & cider list. The food is awesome + the space is beautiful. The views are really pretty, too! This is an awesome spot to have a group event or a quiet dinner. I used to love coming here when I lived in Rochester, MN, I would definitely return if I’m ever back in the area!
UPDATE (5/7/2024): I returned to Four Daughters this week with a girlfriend of mine (for the first time since 2018/2019) while I was visiting Rochester, Minnesota over recent days and it was an incredible experience!! :-) I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had added The Traditionalist (their distillery) to their location. I'm so impressed that Four Daughters was able to expand during the pandemic!! This place hasn't aged at all - the space remains so beautiful, particularly the newer area that was added to serve their bourbon. Their menu changed a bit since my last visit as well, but definitely for the better. Their flight selections have expanded, which led us to try their Speciality flight in addition to their Loon Juice flight (the latter of which was always a standard order for us over years past). I can attest that their Loon Juice is still SO delish after all of these years.
For food, we did the 4D Nachos and Margherita Pizza - each of which were so yummy. We were telling the girls at the bar that we did miss their original menu, which included their baked brie and some other signature dishes, but they explained that there had been a little bit of a simplification of their menu over time due to the pandemic. Despite the changes, it was clear that their standard had remained the same, because the food was so good!! I love Four Daughters so much. Their staff are so wonderful as well, as they remain so kind + accommodating. This place is incredible, you should absolutely visit if you are...
Read moreWe’ve visited Four Daughters twice now. After a great first visit, I was really looking forward to stopping again while driving across Minnesota this summer. Our first experience was overall very good, beautiful setting, good food and drinks…though the manager came off a bit rude. Since we didn’t have much interaction with her, I let it slide.
Unfortunately, on our second visit, the experience was overshadowed by her consistently poor attitude. From the moment we walked in, she acted as if guests were a burden…especially families with kids. When we asked about food allergies, she said they could accommodate, but instead of helping or asking clarifying questions, she just walked away without any effort to assist.
We had a group of seven and were planning to order food and drinks, but her dismissive attitude made me uncomfortable risking a food allergy with no real support. Outside, we chose a table and she followed shortly after, clearly frustrated and upset about the table layout (which we hadn’t changed). She was complaining about her staff not cleaning and made us feel uncomfortable.
Later, after finishing nachos and drinks, we moved inside to cool off. She approached me, clearly annoyed again, telling me we needed to inform someone we were moving or it would mess up our tab. I let her know we had already closed out and paid, but she insisted on double-checking because she didn’t believe me.
As the GM of a restaurant myself, I usually offer extra grace because I know how tough the business can be. But after two visits and witnessing this same behavior, I feel compelled to say something. Everyone has off days…but her consistent lack of professionalism and poor customer service make her seem unfit for the role. Four Daughters is a beautiful winery with a great environment, but it deserves a manager who welcomes guests and represents the...
Read moreUPDATE: It hurts me to do this, but I have to take off some stars for the last visit. We had the most horrendous experience. My husband and I went with some friends because we had talked it up so much. We all ordered food: they got a pizza, and we got a steak to share. The steak took an hour; our friends were long done with their pizza by the time our food came out. When it did come out, it was well done: we had asked for medium. The staff said they'd get a new one out right away, but it was another 45 minutes. Every time we checked, it was "getting plated." That steak was incredibly fatty and still medium well, but we were so late getting home we just ate it. We had pre-paid for everything, so it's not like we could have refused to pay. They gave us one free glass of wine for all that; big whoop. I was really sad; this had always been one of my favorite places, but I'm not sure if I can go back in good faith.
I've been to a solid number of wineries in my lifetime, and Four Daughters has always been the best. I first went there in 2014 and have basically been thinking about it ever since then. It's about three hours away from my house in a direction we don't go very often, so I didn't get the chance to go back until ten years after the fact. I made a special detour to go by myself, and I didn't have very long, but I got to do a white wine tasting and have the cheeseburger. Truly one of the best cheeseburgers I have ever had - and the fries too. Parmesean truffle fries. There wasn't a single wine I didn't like. The moscato-ish one was a bit too sweet, but I would still happily drink it. The Brianna is my absolute favorite, but any of the whites are really spectacular. If you like wine even a little bit - if you like cheeseburgers even a little bit - you...
