Read moreYou know how sometimes you see a place online and think it might be interesting so you check it out and are confused because it's not what you expected? That's like my entire experience with Creekside and it's the absolute best.
When we drove up to the farm, unbeknownst to us, we had used the wrong entrance and were a bit disappointed because it seemed as though they were yet to open. As we left to try out another place in the corner of my eye I noticed another sign for the winery. We took a u-turn to see if perhaps we got the wrong entrance (we had) and were surprised to find a really neat looking rooftop with chairs and a beautiful view of the farm.
This place just looks really cool. Kinda like a classic Bond villian's lair, but a lot nicer, smaller, and safer. The building seems to have been built into the hill and there's lot of seating outside and inside. Once you get inside, it looks like a fun, chill place to hangout and relax. There are games, and they actually have some really cool events and game nights that you can get involved. Coming from the DC metro area, this place is very unique with all the stuff they have going on!
Now, the wine selection. They have some truly delightful wine. We picked up a couple of flights, slushies, and a flight of their dessert wines. It was all tasty! While it's always nice having good wine at a winery, I was really surprised by their choice for whiskey, vodka, and beer. It's not a large selection but it's a neat addition to their lineup. Also, whiskey and soda slushy is kinda good, who knew?
While here we picked up some potato skins (yummy!) and wicked pimento cheese (also yummy!) Definitely wasn't thinking I'd have good wine flights and some tasty snacking options...
Read moreMight have to try this farm as a pumpkin farm or visit during the day and not at a special event. The live music was so loud among the concrete walls that my husband and I couldn’t talk at all. The lights are so bright, they are almost blinding when sitting at the tables. Made it hard to really get an atmosphere reading of the place. Didn’t expect to have to ask for a wine list at a winery but they did not have one even sitting in the order area. Almost every table had a bucket of beer. Felt like we were at more of a bar than a winery. I respect the great idea of offering more than wine, like whiskeys or beer but it seemed dominate here instead of their wines. The outside spaces seemed great but it was cold and they did not seem to have any outdoor heaters other than a fire pit that was already surrounded by standing people. Ordered a flight of wine but was not anything that I would have returned to buy. I feel like if they throw in a dance floor, they might have something, but not a typical winery. I will say the pickles on the charcuterie board were fabulous! Wish I could get a jar of those. Might give this place a second chance at...
