Subject: Complaint Regarding Fly Infestation at St. Thomas Shelter Dear Ms. N. Horne,
I am writing to express my deepest dissatisfaction with our recent experience at the St. Thomas Shelter at the Clayton County International Park which we rented on July 18, 2025 for our Brooks-Wineglass Family Reunion. During our time at the shelter, we were faced with a severe fly infestation that significantly impacted our event. Despite paying for catering and a DJ, the presence of the flies made it impossible to enjoy the food, atmosphere, and each other. Most of our family members had to eat in their vehicles, and some of the food had to be discarded due to contamination. We were informed that the cause of the fly problem was a nearby dumpster that had been filled with garbage for months, and there were no protective barriers in place to prevent flies from entering the shelter. This situation was not only unpleasant but also unacceptable given the amount we paid for the rental. I wanted to make sure you are aware of the condition we encountered, as this severely affected our family reunion experience.
I gave this park a 3 star because even though the park was nice our family experience a fly infestation at our reunion and my family was not able to eat the great food preparation that the cater company we hired did an awesome job on. After making a complaint to the director Nicole (director) and Troy (Assistant Director) for reimbursement for the food that we could not eat due to the flies being all over the area we were at and all over the food they declined to refund our family for the food. My family will never use this park again. We expected to enjoy ourselves but instead it was a great...
Read moreMe & some family members went this past weekend. We were in line for 1 1/2 hrs. Once inside about 1:42pm it was crowded, which was to be expected due to park being a long time coming. I had 2 issues with the Lazy River the cloudiness & the people that were trying to swim under the river floats (not safe) and horse play while some were trying to float on the river floats. My next biggest issue is my family were making sure that we respected the swim wear dress code do to this being a FAMILY ATMOSPHERE NOT TGE BEACH. There were a lot of people that should've been turned around at the at the bag check table and not made it to the ticket booth or turned around at the booth for wearing very exposed swim wear. I understand some have more breast, behind & hips than other but thongs...... why. If the front workers are scared to turn them around, give me the job cause I will this is a family place and it should be treated & respected as such!!!!!!! As I walked down the stairs with my two grand kids to step into the Lazy River their was a kid around 10-14 years of age sitting in a float floating with her shoes (sneakers not water shoes) on her feet dangling in the water. Lastly, I feel like there should be somebody assigned to the restrooms to keep them clean & sanitized...
Read moreThe park was clean, as was the water. There were a lot of lifeguards, and they were very attentive. However, the service was abysmal. There were absolutely zero signs about whether or not you needed to rent the chairs in order to use them (you do), or how much they cost. They have a stand outside where you can rent chairs, cabanas, etc. but they only take cash, if you are using a card you have to go back inside (there are no signs to tell you that either, only bored teenagers). After paying for the chairs, there is no one to help you move them, so I dragged three chairs to where we put our stuff only to find that one of them broken. I reported the broken chair and was told "to toss it over there and get another", again no assistance was given. There are signs telling you not to leave valuables in your car, but they don't have a place for you to put the stuff that you bring inside. There were about 6 lockers in the dressing room, but it looks like you have to bring your own lock. I might be wrong, but there were no signs to tell...
