Even if one just goes to the parking area there are spectacular views over Stockbridge Bowl. For hikers there are a couple of options. The Charcoal Trail is adjacent to the parking area. It is two miles, with scenic vistas to the north and south, and connects to a ridgeline trail that covers all of West Stockbridge mountain (if you do the whole ridge trail,be wary of the shooting range adjacent to the final descent to route 102). Across the street from the parking is the Burbank Trail. It is a three mile trail with moderate elevation. Read moreThis is a Moderate trail that took us two hours 10 minutes with stopping for photos water etc. definitely take the left branch to the overlook first which has a few semi steep inclines so that on the return there is a long downhill path before one reaches the pond. If you go the other way, to the pond first, You will ultimately have a long not too steep but say 1/3 of a mile climb. Without stops this could be easily done by a moderate hiker in 1’45”.
