Edit/Update: I updated my rating to 5 stars because my concerns listed below have been addressed. Not only was Troy kind enough to respond here letting me know that my concerns have been addressed and we will be allowed entry after 630 pm, BUT Nigel also gave me a personal phone call and apology. Thank you for providing excellent customer care in response to a complaint. More businesses need to take your approach.
Original post: Purchased Season Passes for my Mother In Law and our family. Water Park advertised as being open, Tues through Sun until 7pm. Husband and I both work fulltime jobs that don't finish until 5pm. The park that we used prior years, also closed at 7pm and we often would go for the last 30 to 60 minutes which was the perfect amount of time with two toddlers not to mention less busy. Well imagine our surprise when the first time we visit the park arriving at 6:28 pm that we are denied entrance. We are told that you cannot gain admittance to the park after 6:30 pm. Yet, when we arrived they had already closed up shop for the day. I scoured the website and nowhere on the entire site does it mention needing to arrive by a certain time. Later the same week, we arrived at 6pm and they had the regular entrances closed and just checked our bags and admitted us through the reentry gate. My husband had gotten caught in traffic leaving work and arrived at 6:32 pm and they refused to allow him entry. Friday the same week, we went around 4:30 pm. Ironically, this was the first time we got our season passes scanned and entered through the season pass entrance. By 6pm the concessions were all closed despite not being able to bring in any outside food and for the last hour they were making announcements like ever 5 to 10 minutes that the Waterpark is closing soon and to please pack up and exit. I get it. You want everyone gone at 7 so you can close up and leave, but you need to make that clearer up front when people are dropping $400 on season passes. Also, its super annoying to be reminded so frequently that you need to leave for the last hour of the park being open. Last 10 to 15 minutes i can see, but come on. . . Its excessive. To top it off you have to pay extra to sit under the shaded umbrella and cabana areas. The facility itself is very nice and clean although some of the patrons are messy and dirty (one group left piles of trash when they exited and the poor facility people were tasked with picking it all up. I emailed the park after the initial incident of being denied entry. Going on a week and haven't received any kind...
Read moreWent to this park around 3:30pm on a Sunday (non-holiday). Pros: The park itself is decent. There’s a number of things to do for toddlers. THAT IS IT! Cons: There’s no true area to swim, so if that’s what you’re going for. DON’T. We tried to rent a locker (well, you actually rent a lock for $5) to safely store our things, only be told that they were out of locks. They then closed the lazy river for 30mins for a “safety check” to check the water levels. We took that opportunity to visit the concession stand only to wait 15-20mins for them to yell out that they may not have enough food so we can order snacks and drinks only. We swam again until the park closed at 7pm at which time they promptly closed the restrooms, leaving only 2 family restrooms available for a park full of people. While changing at 7:23pm my family was told that they would not be able to enter the family bathroom to change their clothes and needed to promptly exit the park by THEE rudest security officer I’ve ever encountered. She was loud, obnoxious and clearly underpaid judging by her attitude🥴.
Based on the excessive number of people admitted into the park, the lack of amenities, food, and poorly ran facility, we will not be back.
It appears that management is more concerned with collecting as much money as they can ($20 per person), as opposed to taking inventory of concession supplies (since the staff can partake throughout their shift, that needs to be accounted for), having enough locks for each locker and perhaps a few extra locks since some apparently walks away….tearing down the Sky Trail since no one seemed to enjoy it… perhaps create an additional water area because the amount of bodies in the sports pool and lazy river was just plain ridiculous. Invest in customer service training, increased pool supplies, facilities management, customer satisfaction..the list goes on.
I truly hoped Spivey Splash Water Park would be the saving grace of Clayton County GA. It wasn’t. I wanted so bad to support a South GA community since it’s 2.5 hours from our home… apparently, that wasn’t meant to be….Going forward, my family and I will travel an additional 2 hours for a better experience. If you go, set your bar super low and you just might enjoy...
Read moreThis is a very nice water park and I think, very affordable.
Entry- We got there around 1130, so it was not super busy. It was easy to get through.
Seating- There are seats, but definitely better to get there early. My cousin got a cabana which came with 2 chairs. I found out later that you can bring your own chair. I wish I would have known.
Lazy River- We were in the lazy river for about 3 minutes before they blew the whistle for the "safety break". This was around 12:45 and last for 15 minutes. As SOON as they blew the whistle and made the announcement over the intercom, the lifeguard, a young lady closest to the large slides, began yelling at these little 6,7/8 year old kids, "GET OUT THE WATER NOW!!! NOW!!!! GET OUT THE WATER!!!!" blows whistle "GET OUT THE WATER!!!!!". I had to tell her to stop yelling like that. They had JUST blew the whistle. I couldn't believe it! There is definitely a way to say something with authority without being rude.
After the break, we get back in the lazy river, and a kid about 12/13 years old jumps from the side, on top of my niece, swam under the water right into me. It was like he didn't even realize what he had done because he was still pushing me and causing my float to rise up behind me. I don't necessarily blame him because he's a kid, but they probably should monitor that more.
Slide- My son, daughter, and nephew were going down the slide. When my son was going, they told us the lifeguard at the top pushed and flipped my son's float, causing him to flip out of the float. As he was grabbing his float and trying to catch his balance, she yelled for him to go! He said that shocked him!
I understand these are the jobs made for teens. However, they need proper supervision. An adult manager or two should be on site at all times monitoring everything they do and say. People can seriously get hurt. I wish the kids would have told us this before we left.
All in all, it is a very nice park. Perfect for kids. Perfect for parents. Perfect for families. Oh, and there is not much shade. So I suggest a regular umbrella if you can't get a cabana. Definitely recommend getting there early. They started to get packed around 2p-3p.
And the funnel cake fries...
