Deserves 5 stars for natural beauty but lack of any supporting attractions or development within the Stockton community limits the attraction of this lake. If you take Grandma or Aunt Sally you better bring plenty of board games.

Geography and wind patterns makes Stockton Lake popular for sailing. 3 marina's and a cafe with water access near main boat ramp offer basic amenities for boaters.

Camping, hiking, boating. Stocktons low level of tourism development may leave non-water winged members of your group quite board.

The surrounding community, while friendly, doesn't have much in the way of what one might expect for shopping and dining often found near lake communities.

Scuttlebutt on the streets is Stockton likes it this way but I cant help feeling the community is missing out on some serious tourism revenue.

We had pockets full of dollars burning a hole and no where to spend it. The sidewalks roll up at 9pm sharp and forget doing much non-water on Sunday through Wednesday. Dining and lodging choices are quite limited.

Not being a sailor myself, there was little to keep me busy and boardom soon sank in.

We were ready to go home day one. If you're looking for a lake vacation with plenty of appeal for all, save the time and go to Tablerock or Lake...

My intent was to add some photos to my night albums and found the south west area of Stockton Lake to be a great destination. This was the area with the least sky light according to the map I use. There were several scenic areas close to bridges and also ample shore areas to hike around and get various angles for sky and lake pictures. There are wide open lake areas as well as interesting growth around the edges. Deadwood and vegetation make great customers for photographing since they are well disciplined and never complain about long poses. Haha These props of nature and the location near the shorelines also accommodate photo ops without too much travel. It did start to get a little chilly so I appreciated this. :) I would like to return during the day to just enjoy that area I was in and the rest of the lake. It looks like I only saw a small portion. I didn’t get a chance to tour the facilities such as restrooms and any visitor center so I’m not sure how that rates in comparison to other lakes. Once again, this trip was for night photography but next time I’m sure I’ll run into a need for...

You can't have a good time because it cost you money just to go swimming it should be a free place for families to get together and go swimming and fishing and boating shouldn't cost everything to just have fun! The water had been up so high that the trees are all dead there's no shade to sit under you need to dig up the old trees and put new trees in so that they can have shade and the tables were all wet and warped you couldn't sit on them it just needs an over all clean up and new equipment ! Take the money we have to pay to swim use it to buy some metal tables that way if the water comes up it don't ruin the the tables like it did the...

I really like Cedar Ridge campground. I have a beautiful beach area, and real close to an island. I can either kayak to the island or there are giant Stepping Stones just underneath the water and you can Wade out there. And then once you go to the higher point on an island, you are looking out off a bluff and can jump into the lake. It is a beautiful and quiet place to camp. Plus for $28 I get to nights and that allows my friends access to the boat ramp so they can bring up their pontoon or jet skis. Is only about 45 minutes from home so that is the perfect Drive. When the rivers are too crowded with drunken college kids This is Where I Come instead.

A great place to enjoy a week or weekend on the water. If you know this lake then you know about the sailing. If not, you need to learn about it. One of the premier sailing lakes in the country. It's small enough to not worry about large waves and big enough to not worry about navigating a tight waterway. There seems to be a generous amount of wind to keep your sails full as well. It's more secluded and that been great to keep the large boat traffic to a minimum and honestly, sailboats are probably the biggest boat on the water most of the time.
