The Rustic Rose WEDDING Barn: DON'T GIVE THEM PATRONAGE!!! Beautiful Venue, Poorly owned and managed.
Pros: Beautifully situated barn, well kept Lots of good photo spots (i.e. pond, deck, trees, horses, etc.) Lovely space for ladies to "get ready"
Cons: The Owner (details below) *The major reason The price (for what you get) The lack of comfortable seating in men's "getting ready" room, no attached bathroom. Lack of freezer and refrigerator space (two residential sized units) No Wi-Fi! Seriously. Really..... Unreal... Communications/"Contractual" agreements/ GREY AREAS!
Personal Experience: Where to begin...Deceiving initial meetings? Hidden charges? Thievery? Horrific "bedside-manner"? Entirely negative surprises? Utterly rude and insensitive responses to our kind gestures? Interruption of wedding ceremony by coming in and out of SQUEEEEKY house door multiple times???? Lack of staff to monitor bathroom towles, garbage, etc. (very basic things)???? Hardly being willing to give us an extra 30 minutes for clean up by the bride's own exhausted parents at the end of an exhausting 48 hours?????? Oh. My. Word. SERIOUSLY!!!
Should The Rustic Rose Barn continue to desire business, they need to seriously consider the following: What their goal/mission statement would be Who manages their dealings with clientele What ALL is included in their astronomical fee How to staff events, etc. ( Ummmm..... ever heard of Bliss Staffing????) What they want their patrons to remember of their event and how they want to be remembered themselves.......

Read moreThe Venue was a nice place for a wedding and that's about it.. Great photo spots, but I would have to say that management is lacking the knowledge of how to run a business..
While guest were arriving for a wedding they did an open house with another potential client. I found this very rude to do this while you have a current paying customer on the grounds getting ready for the special day.
-No Debit or Credit cards are allowed when buying anything at the bar. -lack of communication -Dogs all over the place as guest were arriving -dog doo doo in key spots to take pictures around the pond -Zero parking on your own unless you are part of the wedding party -Owner decided that she was hungry and just grabbed a plate of food that the Groom made himself -they charge extra to set up chairs outside. -Don't plug to much into the wall right outside the kitchen area because it will trip the breakers -kitchen is not very clean at all -the Grooms room..... this is just a room nothing more nothing less.. had some very uncomfortable chairs and no actual place to change. so come dressed because the only door closest to the trailer trash bin is through the Grooms changing room from the kitchen. -cant bring your own beer to drink -Charge/fine if you throw up on the grass anywhere on the property, so if you have someone that is a light weight make sure they get across the gravel road.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone wanting to celebrate a wedding at.

Read moreThe Rustic Rose Barn was a fantastic venue for our wedding ceremony and reception! Susan and her staff were amazing and very helpful throughout the planning process and during our special day! We felt very welcomed and genuinely cared for throughout the whole process. The barn is gorgeous and rich with history. While we were wedding planning we discovered that the antique carousel in Story City was renovated in the barn in 1900, and we reserved the carousel for a private photo shoot and ride during our wedding party photos! We loved the historical tie to our wedding space. The venue is absolutely gorgeous with the large chandelier in the center of the dance floor and the string lights and drapery wrapped around the old wood beams. It’s classically elegant with the perfect touch of rustic. There was plenty of decor to borrow from the wedding but we also liked that we could bring in our own touches. The getting ready rooms were a lovely addition and the girls really liked the style of the bridal suite. We really enjoyed the outdoor space for our ceremony, and the pond for sunset photos. The outdoor patio was also a great place for guests to hangout and socialize after dinner! We received so many compliments on our venue selection and the helpful staff. OVerall we had a great experience and highly recommend the Rustic Rose Barn!
