Love this spot! The air is so full of oxygen! ! A great place for a short hike with multiple waterfalls that have 1 huge swimming hole and a river at the bottom of the Gorge! ESPECIALLY DURING HOT JULY AND AUGUST DAYS! 90% of vermonters don't have AC..it's only unbareable..in the 90s sometimes 100 with high humidity..for 2 maybe 3 weeks a year...if that. During the week..especially in the morning it's not crowded. During off season there's hardly a soul there.
** In the warmer months AKA- Mid june--early September.... It's totally Wonderful. (Unless its pouring out....then it's Super slippery with moss). And it's all down hill and you have to go back up the way you came...one way in and out. It gets really hairy in mud season and during the rains in late September till snow hits on the STERLING VALLEY ROADS AND THE LOOP. ...PLEASE!!!!....YOU..MUST HAVE A 4X4 OR ALL WHEEL . Anytime between March - early june. MUD SEASON & During winter November -April. ICE SEASON.
NO JOKE...NO MINIVANS WITH SUMMER TIRES...THESE ROADS GET DANGEROUS! Otherwise the summer and early fall are beautiful! ! Bring cedar spray for ticks, mosquitoes and black flys. The trail is all in a heavy oxygen, moss, rock and water area.....wear sturdy shoes...sneakers at least...usually mud at bottom. Have fun!! Clean up after your pet...don't pollute our water system..it's one of the reasons people come to Vermont. ..it's clean....keep it that...

I WILL NEVER FORGET IT. I HAVE NEVER SAW ANYTHING LIKE IT IN 49 YEARS. IT CAME OUT OF THE WOODS AND CROSSED THE ROAD AND WENT BACK INTO THE WOODS. LIKE A WHITE 5 FOOT ROUND SEE THROUGH CLOUDY BALL IS WHAT I SAW, MY HONEY SAID SHE SAW SOME BLUE IN IT. THERE WAS NO WATER ON THE ROAD TO REFLECT ANY LIGHT AND EVEN IF IT DID, THE REFLECTION WOULD NOT CROSS THE RD I DONT THINK LOL. MY HAIRS STILL STAND UP ON MY NECK AND I GET CHILLS JUST THINKING ABOUT IT. THERE IS MORE THAN JUST LITTLE BEARS OUT THERE PEOPLES TRUST...

Several historic homesites and the cemetery from the original town of Sterling are visible and marked with their history and noted on well posted maps. Several single track mountain bike trails snake through the park but most trails are double track. Some trails cross private property so be respectful and...
