There are a few parking areas along the dirt road that were filled, but it's easy to find a safe parking spot on the side of the road near by. I did a 10.5 mile hike to Stratton summit (3.4 miles), then Stratton pond (3.2 miles) and back to the parking lot (3.7 miles). It was a good split, the summit has a really tall tower. 4 people are allowed on the tower at all times. It's absolutely beautiful, I wish I had more time to spend up there in the enclosed tower but it was windy. Stratton pond is also gorgeous & tranquil because the fastest trail to it is at least 2.5 miles into the woods. I was able to hit the main attractions in one 5.5 hour hike. I recommend this to anyone in the MA area that wants to do a day hike!

I take the summerset road drive to the summit, to get away from the rat race and clear out the noise. I love vermont.

Go south along the east branch for a wonderful 2 mile, flat hike to Somerset Reservoir. You won't be disappointed

Great hike up Stratton Mountain. The marker at the trailhead says 3.4 while the marker at the Fire Tower says 3.8, and based on the time it took us I would say the trail is closer to 3.8. The hike was great, very pretty, occasional creeks, and gorgeous birch trees to see on the hike up. Definitely moderate trail as listed...

Be careful, a bit of snow and mud can turn this into a 7 hour tough trail, especially closer to the lake. Between getting here and the full loop it's a full day. the tower at the top can be slippery in the spring, and the window panes at the top are broken so...
