A small park with a multi-purpose and off trail trails is clean and simple. Not a lot of amenities, it's still young, but there are benches around the lake for respite along with a fishing dock.
My visit was a low wind, warm Spring sun-kissed weekday. For a mid-week, the trail was well represented with activity. The trail is wide open, meaning minimal shading. A few dips and hills add variety to an easy mile and a half around the lake. Once around the lake I searched for the perfect bench to box lunch. And once I was refreshed, it was time to make adventures on off-trail surrounding streets.
Surrounding area offers many points of interest, if you don't ride in pursuit: cows, horses, goats, lamas, and golf courses. If you go the extra mile you can hook up with the Portage County Hike & Bike Trail...
Read moreWe tried this park for the first time today. It was a beautiful fall day. Nice big parking lot and easy access to the trail around the lake. The trail is completely paved, which is really nice. My only complaint is how high the weeds and foliage are, you can't really see the lake when you're walking around it, there's 15 feet of tall weeds between the trail and the lake. If you have a pet, make sure they have had their tick meds, (there's even a warning about the ticks right as you enter). It's a beautiful and peaceful stroll, tons of birds to see and hear. There's a very mild grade at the entrance side and exit side, but overall a nice easy flat walk. Park seems well kept and there were lots of friendly folks walking. I didn't go in, but there are restrooms right at the entrance. ...
Read moreLove this park! There is a looping paved path all around the lake, but options for more natural/gravel trail as well. Even if there are several other vehicles in the parking lot, you can generally still find peace and quiet😊 Nothing like the sound of birds, wind in the tree tops, and the smell of a wide variety of wildflowers to bring you a sense of calm. The lake is also open for fishing and kayaking, and appears to be ADA friendly, with ramps on the dock. I've personally only seen bluegill, but I'm sure there are other fish species to catch! The only "downside" to this trail is that the pit toilets always seem to have a potent smell that lingers around the trailhead. On the flip side, they're decently clean, and it's nice to even have a bathroom available, so no...
