There are a few better places on this section of the parkway that I somewhat prefer for a few reasons but they are more difficult to find and I'm sorry I would like to keep it that way. They are much more difficult and dangerous for a view as well. I'm not being selfish but some people decide to do things like bring spray paint and party. Then they leave their trash and "artwork" in places where people may not see them doing it. Ravens Roost is a fairly large area for parking and viewing the valley and rolling mountains. It does have some very amazing views even from your vehicle. There are small areas to walk to on rock and dirt trails as well as the paved and walled area. It's also a popular place for repelling, climbing and hang gliding. I am not in any way suggesting anyone do these things as they can make you dead if you do not know what you are doing. Sometimes even when you do. There is a picnic table on the hill behind the parking area. As everyone posts pictures of the same views, the pictures I am adding are from there. Please take any trash with you or dispose of it properly. Please don't be afraid to pick up something if a dirt bag leaves his cliff bar wrapper on the ground. This helps these beautiful places stay that way. Lastly, keep the spray paint at your house to paint on your own walls if you must tell someone who you love with...

Read moreThe Blue Ridge Parkway was closed due to "Winter weather advisory" so we drove through Wintergreen Resort which was a very long steep drive, the GPS took me to a residential neighborhood where I was driving in circles for a long time before I ran into a kind local gentleman who pointed me in the right direction. I will not recommend this to the general public because you will be parking on private property but the view was breathtaking and the silence was heavenly. Another overlook was open that will give you an eagle view of the ski slopes of...
