Brown County WI Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve — Attraction in Suamico

We love a stroll through the woods on the winding trails and viewing wildlife. They sponsor different nature related crafts (i.e. bird feeder & bird house building) at reasonable prices that are kid and adult friendly. They even teach snow shoeing and rent the shoes for little ones, (our daughter was 2 years old at the time we first attended), and adults. The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and always ready willing and able to answer questions. They even have a Little Free Library. My 4 year old and I arrived when a bus full of children arrived. No wait and no pay. They were going on a tour and we got to join in. The instructor was very interactive and inclusive. We loved looking around and reading about different things and animals. We made our own constellations, named them and had a great time. While there I learned about additional activities they offer. We Love walking our dog's along the ponds and trails here. It's really nice to hear the children playing with the sensory instruments placed on the trails and to get close and watch the honey bee hives. The number of different birds and wildlife we saw amazed us. I'm sure it depends on what time of year you come, but I would come here everyday if I lived closer.
