Wayside Inn Grist Mill is a fantastic place to visit. The historic mill, powered by water, if you are lucky, you can see the mill in action. Watching the water turn the big wooden wheel just like it did ages ago would be pretty amazing.
The creek is a great spot to hang out. It’s peaceful and scenic, perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. Sitting by the water, listening to the gentle flow of the creek, is incredibly calming.
The whole place is full of interesting historic facts and stories. The mill is beautifully preserved, and walking around feels like stepping back in time. Whether you’re into history or just looking for a beautiful spot to visit, Wayside Inn Grist Mill has something for everyone. There is also a historic restaurant and barn flea market nearby.
Overall, it’s a wonderful historic site with plenty to see and do. I loved exploring the area and learning about its rich past. If you’re in the area,...
Read moreThis place has always been a great place to go when you want to relax and get away from it all. I always come down here and walk my dog Nacho, and we both love it. I used to come here with my late wife to relax. There are great people here to chat with too. I wanted to share something with you about February 4th, 2023. Even though it was freezing; Nacho and I came down to the Grist mill to take a walk because we were more protected here than anywhere else around. The trees were shielding us from the wind. LOL The feel of the combined temperature and wind chill factor was close to minus 30 degrees below 0. I noticed that the water fall was totally frozen in place, so I took the attached picture. If you look closely hopefully you can see the water falling is frozen in place. ...
Read moreThis place is so special. The grounds are beautiful and the feel of peace in the air and sense of a simpler time from the 1700s abounds. The chapel was named after Ford's mom & mother-in-law, the grist mill is what is pictured on Pepperidge Farms packaging, the old red school house is where Mary Had A Little Lamb came from, the barns have 1700s carriages, there's an underground cider mill from the Henry Ford days with lightbulbs installed by Thomas Edison himself -- and then there's the Inn. It's like stepping into the 18th century. It's free to wander inside and out and there's great drinks in the tavern and food in the restaurant. All the employees are wonderful and care about the Inn and your experience there. If you're into ghosts and hauntings - they have that too! Rooms 9 & 10 to be more specific! There is no other place like...
