Station 21 - Public Beach Access, Sullivan's Island — Attraction in Sullivan's Island

Came to this beach once before at early spring. Went again today. No rinse stations, pier, or bathrooms. No smoking or drinking and you could get a heck of a fine if you bring a dog. Not very handicap friendly and a nightmare for strollers or wheelchairs. Parking is Nonexistent. You may find narrow gaps six cars long that you can squeeze into If not follow the crowd and get ready for the ticket. I asked a local if there was a public parking lot, they informed me they’ve been working on it for over 20 years. But the locals do not want a gawky parking lot to bring down their homes value or charm. I guess that along with the easy way to extort tourist for $50 a pop would be reason enough to not fix the issue. This beach belongs to locals and it’s really not tourist friendly. Go to Folly or IOP for a warmer more tourist...

It was very nice. There were dunes stretched out a bit before the more flat sandy area. We went at night. It was very different from other beaches I've been to, even ones n Charleston. There was a warning about Coyotes that we laughed at. However, after being there a while, we started hearing something that sounded like the screams of a very hurt animal. It was moving fast & kept coming closer. After a while we heard it again & my daughter said it was coyotes. She even showed me a vid of their cries & she was right. It was definitely coyotes. This beach was a great spot for families and groups. There are many small restaurants, but the area is not overly-developed. No easily accessible bathrooms, rinse stations, or lifeguards. That said, the water does not get very deep, and I felt safe letting the kids swim. This was a great place for kids to play and for those looking to enjoy the sand and beach. It was very different from nearby Folly Beach which has many shops, restaurants, and stands selling booze slushies. Parking was much easier to come by at Sullivan and was free.
