Beautiful, uncrowded, and only a short walk from the road which is convenient with small children and/or gear in tow. Large shoals along this stretch of Sullivan’s Island provide ample shallows perfect for safe, family-friendly swimming and kids of all ages! This beach is popular with the kitesurfers obviously, so it can get very gusty, and they can get close at times. We were blessed with several dolphin sightings, lots of hermit crabs, I almost stepped on a stingray (watch your step!), and there was even a Loggerhead turtle nesting area at the base of the dunes (do not disturb!). There aren’t really big parking lots on Sullivan’s, but all street parking is free and you can park in the street parking spots for as long as you plan to be there.
I would say if you arrive after 10 am on a weekend day it may be hard to find a spot, so I’d say either plan to get there early, or go later in the day after some people may have already finished...
