Lake Shelbyville is where I grew up. I know this lake pretty well. Last year the lake was low. Caution must be taken or running into low water is a very real possiblity. Fishing on the lake is very fun. There are abundant fish but do a little research before going. Fishing below the spillway is a very good place if you do not own a boat. The time of day is important at the spillway. Fish all day and catch nothing. Then an hour before dark they start biting. Boat launchs have a fee except at state parks. Beachs are the same. I can't stand dirty lake feeling, and if you are like me I was very happy the lake bed is all sand and I didn't feel slime on my feet. The crowds aren't too bad either. It cost $5 to enter.
