Cool place, really explains how springs form, why the state is so full of caves and helps show everyone what an awesome ecosystem we have in this state. The hike is a loop and good for older kids. I’d define it as a moderately easy hike. The trail was well maintained (suggest long pants if you are going to the river) not overgrown (except for about 100 yds on the river shore) and well worth the trip down to the river/cave. The road to access is compacted rock with some potholes-standard for a lot of rural areas. Pay attention, take it easy, you will be fine in anything but a sports car.

I recently took my 14 year old daughter here and she loved it! I hadn't been here in more than 10 years and they've really made the place a lot nicer than I remember. There are multiple information boards posted up with pictures and lots of interesting information about Devils Well and it's history. There is also a trail nearby you can go on, picnic tables with little grills at each one, and a restroom. I really enjoyed going here and my daughter and I are planning to go back soon to walk the trail and probably have a picnic.

So I lived down this road nearly all my life and I will tell you why I rated it 3 stars. BTW do not expect to see picture number 1 that is water leading out of a cave. I have yet to see that place...

First off I can not express how many people have walked up to my house and said they got a flat tire or their car broke down because the road is really bad. Luckly for them I have given them rides, let them use phones, etc.

Secondly, while it is kind of nice to look at, I have talked to many people that have went down there and they say it is not really worth it. Just a hole in the ground and a pond with fish (mainly blue gill, karp, bass). It is said that there are massive albino catfish in the well.

BE WARNED: People get lost on the trails very often, so it is not recommended to take a hike unless you are sure you can make it back. Some are never heard of again, you can walk for weeks in the wrong direction and never see civilization again...

All on all, there are people that say it is a nice experience and it is a decent fishing spot. If you come after a flood there is a decent waterfall going into the well, but the road is washed out. NEVER BRING A SMALL PET. I bought my dog when he was a puppy and he decided it was a good idea to get a very close look at the well. So he walked through the bars and onto a small grate that over hanged a 100s of foot drop into freezing water. One wrong move and I would have lost my dog. So I calmly called him over, being careful not to startle him, and luckly I still have him today. I cant help but think how horrible it would have been if he fell...
