This park is truly a hidden gem in Georgia! Picked it off the map because we have never been to here and what a true surprise it is! First thing that catches your eye is how spacious everything is. Does not feel the least bit cramped at all. It sports two stocked lakes, even though the fishing was not so good when we went. The lakes are stocked yearly and have wonderful access all around! Paddled watercraft are available for rental and the walking trails are serene. Day use area is nice and there is a beautiful butterfly garden at the office that is well maintained.

The campground was the best part of all. One word: SPACIOUS. Seems every site is a pull-through and all are very wide and seemingly boundless. The comfort station is old but very well maintained by the host, who has been doing it for 12 years. He said this park never gets rowdy or crowded. The playground was new and very visible from the campsite. One of the best features is that EACH site has their own trash cans AND gray water pit! You will not find many parks like that!

The office staff are very friendly and ready to help with anything you ask. They sell fishing worms and some tackle in there too.

The park is not far from Rocky Mountain PFA for further fishing opportunities and the town of Summerville is close and has any supplies you need at the Ingles grocery, Walmart or other stores. Walmart, however is on the other side of town and may be a bit far for a quick jump into town for something.

So do something adventurous and make a trip. You will not be...

The campground itself is awesome. But when I went to check in on Oct 17th, the lady working at the office that reminded me of one of the golden girls, gave me some attitude because I didn't have some white card that goes along with the "Friends of Georgia State Parks" pass and then gave me even more attitude when I inquired about a military discount, because apparently I need yet another card for that, even though I have my military card, my VA rating on my phone and the tag on the back on my truck shows me as a 100% disabled veteran. I'm sorry if I can't keep up with everyone's little clubs to get a discount, but the card needed to prove my veteran status got me aggravated. If the items I provided are good enough for the Military then I think it should be good enough for a state park. The last time I stayed there the staff was great. I think it was just this crabby women mad at the world because something didn't line up perfectly. I was going to see if I could stay another night but I was so aggravated at this lady that I decided that I'd find...

We came to stay here in the cabins for 3 nights. The cabin was adorable and we were so happy with it. There was no WiFi anywhere in the park, which is fine cause I want to unplug on vacation, but I did need it a few times to do some things. The staff were SO friendly and David, the manager was wonderful! He stopped by our cabin and talked with us and thanked us for coming and said he was so glad we were there. He was the kindest man and you could tell he loved the place. The lake was wonderful and we saw all kinds of wildlife in the park. We went canoeing, fed the ducks, played on the playground, hiked, and grilled out. The Marble Mine trail was just phenomenal. The hike wasn’t bad at all and the mine was so worth it. We hiked it twice during our stay. We were a little bummed that there was no swimming area, but overall, we enjoyed our stay and loved the park so much. I will definitely be adding it to my list of...

James H. Sloppy Floyd State Park is a hidden gem! With over 560 acres of beautiful trails, peaceful lakes, and stunning scenery, it’s the perfect spot for hiking, fishing, or just soaking in nature. The trails are well-maintained and offer a great mix of easy and challenging routes, including some rewarding uphill climbs. One of my favorite discoveries was the beautiful old mine—such a cool piece of history tucked away in the woods! Despite a little rain and some bugs, the park’s natural beauty made every step worth it. The only downfall was the staff at the visitors center was not nice at all, clean facilities, and plenty of spots for picnics make this park a must-visit. Highly recommend for anyone looking to reconnect with nature!
