Dahlem Environmental Education Center — Attraction in Summit Township

What a gem of a place for a beautiful walk in the woods and fields. Can't believe I haven't found this place before. My wife and I enjoyed visiting on a sunny Saturday in February. The place is very large with many, well marked trails. Some of the signs were not in very good shape and were difficult to read, however the signs with trail info were great. The vast majority of the trails are wide and where there is boardwalk, the lumber is generally in very good shape. I cannot recommend this place...

I used the trails, not the nature center (though I remember that being a fun field trip from my youth). Fantastic beginner trail runs! Even at a run, there was plenty of wildlife to observe. A whitetail deer felt the need to gallop away upon my approach at a non-peak deer time. This was the first Nature Center that I visited when I was a kid. It was a wonderful experience then and it still is now. A wide selection of trails to choose from and plenty of nature to see.
