5 stars is an understatement. This is one of the most beautiful places I have been in the greater metro Detroit area (Stepping Stone Park in the Flint Area is my other fav). I cannot emphasize enough how incredible this park is. I went on 8-23-21, around 4pm and I basically had the place to myself. I saw turtles, fish, tons of birds, bunnies, beautiful insects and more. The landscaping is like looking at a painting. I could have stayed until dusk if my husband wasn't waiting on me for dinner. One thing I really enjoyed was the layout of the paths. I'm pretty awful at navigating in general and I was delighted to see that the paths are fairly fool-proof because they lead you back to where you started; BRILLIANT!!! The water is shallow enough that you can see fish, turtles, frogs, tadpoles swimming right under you. There's tons of benches to sit and rest or admire the beauty. I brought a "real camera" and took over 90 photos in 2 hours. I am planning to go back weekly...

I have been visiting "The Marsh" for decades. I really like the diversity of this place. You can be walking on a wood boardwalk through the woods and by the marshlands. Then walking on natural trails through woods, and a variety of marsh foliage. They used to rent canoes many years ago to paddle through the lilly pads and other aquatic gems. I wish they would bring that amenity back.. Many bird species are abound here as well. Walks can take as little as 45 minutes to 2 hours, without repeating any routes. I see quite a few fisherpersons and photographers when I go. This place is in Sumpter Township. Was created by the Metropolitan Airport Authority due to the needed expansion at the airport. I think for every acre that was developed at the airport, they had to preserve 3 acres elsewhere. Elsewhere was the lucky recipient in Sumpter Twp. Definitely...
