So I planned an adventure to the petrified forest and added this place to the list.. I didn't estimate enough time after going in and seeing how big and detailed all of the exhibits are.. It was a very humbling experience for me as I walked through reading the quotes of wisdom from the native Americans who lived here for thousands of years.. these people are amazing and we have so much to learn from them about living at one with the land and nature as well as with each other... definitely recommend stopping by and checking it out for yourself just take some extra time when you do.. the young lady working there was so nice and friendly and made the experience over the top and deserves more than 5...

During that time, I became acquainted with several of the Wanapums, including Chief Rex Buck, Jr., whom I worked with frequently when he was an Electrical Forman at Priest Rapids Dam. The Wanapums are a gentle people and a pleasure to deal with. The new Heritage Center at Priest Rapids Dam has wonderful exhibits that tell the story of the Wanapums. It's a different experience than the old visitor center at Wanapum Dam, as the new one focuses solely upon the Wanapums.    Read moreThis place is a must see if are in this area or even if you live close by. The Wanapum people are were wise and still are. I did notice that there was no one visiting here and it's sad that all the culture and wisdom we can learn from the people who know the land best. And be sure and take a minute and talk with Stacy she so kind and has a lot of knowledge to share. There is not many pictures because the tribe ask that you not take pictures inside the museum.
