Shadow Rock Park — Attraction in Sunrise Manor

Nice view of the city. Still need to pave the road. My elderly father & I were unable to enjoy the dog park. A woman with her pitbull continued to harass me when I walked in the big dog side but opposite end of her. I also had had my 9 month old pitbull with me. I had wanted to be on the opposite side of the park from her. She came over purposely to my side of the park. We were the only ones there. Mind you the big dog park is huge. So here's my 91 yr. old dad, me & my pup & this young woman with her pitbull causing a problem with us bc I asked her if she could go back on her end. She had given me a bad impression before I had even gotten to the big dog park. She had a loud mouth & was already telling me what to do when she heard a lady from the little dog park telling me that the big dog side was straight down further to the right. Her pit was behaving himself it was her that wanted to cause a problem bc I really didn't want her to bother us. She was adamant on standing put & chose to behave so rudely I could see her pit had become agitated & this wasnt good. This was now putting my pit in a very bad situation. Mine was still a pup her was not. It was clear she used her dog to behave however she liked. This just proves there are owners of pitbulls & dogs like pitbulls that really have no business owning them. You should never use your dog for your own bad behavior. I left with my dog & dad shortly after. I was really agitated & didn't want to create a bigger problem. I've never gone back...

I have been asking on behalf of all the folks who come to the Shadow Rock dog park for the past 7 years asking for dog park lighting be put in year after year they plan for lighting but it never has transpired. At night it is difficult to see faces on grass or toys our dogs play with when leaving in the dark.

One time we had a medical emergency the paramedics did not know where to turn to get back to the park and it took my self to run all the way to the paved street to lead paramedics to the person in need. When they arrived to the dog park the EMT said are there no lights he asked ? I had to say, I have been asking for years for the commissioners office to get lights for the dog park area. All other dog parks in areas of Las Vegas have dog apparatus for the dogs to run up or down on and most importantly lights. The newest revision made added a third dog area, but it is one area that is so far back and has a four gate walkway that one has to open to get back into. For elderly and those who cannot hold onto their water, chairs, their dogs and still take that long walk back to the rear dog park, has resulted in people not wanting to use it, because they don't want to walk so far in the dark and have to open and close 4 interior gates to get back there. A great view of the valley from the parks top of the valley perch. Recently expanded, enlarged, new shade structures, picnic areas, landscaping and and overall reinvigoration, attention to details, shade structures, shaded play areas, lush vegitation. This park is really becoming a gem for the area. Wonderful d New bright lighting, paved parking areas, are appreciated. These enhancements make all the park facilities Fresh!
