Paulina Lake is a beautiful lake in Central Oregon that I have visited and camped at several times. Typical summer weather is sunny and hot. However the weather can change very quickly with thunderstorms and even snow in spring and fall so come prepared. Fishing for kokanee can be great at times. Brown trout can be caught early and late evenings if you take the time to learn what they will bite on. There are hiking trails around the lake with beautiful scenery including the main lava field. Read moreA beautiful lake near Bend and it's a must visit place. The view around the lake is fantastic, and the scenery is close to the lakes in Rocky Mountains. The trail around the lake is great, with great views and lots of trees. What makes this lake unique is the amazing hot spring, it's primitive but is pure natural. It's just some small ponds by the lake and you can enjoy both the cool water and the hot water alternatively. It's about 1.5 miles hike from the trailhead, and really worth it. Read moreHiking around the lake from the campgrounds to the hot springs was one of my favorite experiences. From the campground, I walked further than I’d read and almost turned back, but getting to the hot springs was the absolute best. I did the whole hike in sandals and it was ok. Definitely not flat terrain, but not a tough hike at all.
The hot springs were so warm and peaceful, and during the week in June is was fairly quiet - I had a whole pool to myself! I can’t imagine a better way to have spent my time....
