I've drove past this park numerous of times and this time I had some of my video equipment soni decided to stop. There isn't much parking; which is crazy seeing how huge this nature area is. The hill right behind the parking spaces (if you pull in) gives a great arrival view. It almost seems as if your on top of a mountain. When you get to the top of the hill it dips down into what feels like a valley and you have a decent view in all directions. I didn't venture into this nature area that far because I wasn't prepared for all the mosquitoes. I'll definitely be back and I definitely suggest anyone that needs a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to spend some time here. Much time isn't need to get lost in nature and have a quick mental vacation...
Read moreI've participated in using this preserve many many times. The staff is all volunteers who love it dearly and they host activities monthly including camping outside, nature walks and bird watches with guest hosts from the national Autobon society. This is a very raw natural habitat and is treated with respect by the locals who love it. Our kids know it as the "Dark Park" as we go to see stars or to camp out with the staff in the summer. Read moreLovely little preserve with nice walks through fields and a couple of trails leading through the woods. Numerous loops lead you through some hilled areas and some flat. It's pretty exposed so it can be toasty on hotter days. Also, bugs can be a little heavy at times, so it's something to consider. But you'll see a variety of different wildlife here; birds, bunnies, frogs, snakes and more call this preserve home, and it's a wonderful place for a morning or evening walk. Additionally, you'll find a diverse amount of plant life; honeysuckles, daisies, etc. There is also a picnic table and fireplace in a small field for a lunch break or nighttime pow wow. Step out into nature and enjoy...
