The game lands are essentially the last of the wilderness in North Carolina. I'm grateful it's protected. But if you're reading this, I suggest you see it before it gets taken. I want to add that I encourage the game lands commissioners to ensure it's clear to the general public when it's safe to walk and cycle without fear. The verbiage and amount of information clutter is confusing at best and the regulations are continually changing, e.g., you can hunt on some Sundays in some game lands. The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission should be specific for each game land knowing that some areas are multi-use, i.e., hikers and cyclists. Read moreA pocosin wilderness area -with lots of sandy roads and game lands which utilizes the N.C.- DNR Hunting lottery system for birds, small game and wildfowl hunting area. It is not patrolled by DNR game wardens as much- as it could be throughout the seasons of the year.
Note....Very limited cell phone reception- in certain areas, and it can seem quite vast as any pocosin wilderness region can be. Do not recommend individual outings so bring your buddy if you go out here.

I spoke with a Game Warden this week he was asking if we had any luck, We didn't seen any animals he did tell us that that there are so few deer on the game lands and that he would be surprised if we seen one.
