Surry Mountain Lake — Attraction in Surry

I'm sure this place would've been beautiful, however even though the website said they were open, they weren't. I called the number and they said they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. It was possible to park outside the gate and walk in but we wanted to bring out beach chairs and use the facilities, rent a kayak, etc. So, we left after traveling a ways to try out this lake! Beautiful mending of nature and man made structure. Good view out over the water/ice and the surrounding area. There is trail that goes down by the river, across a bridge, and back up to the top of the dam. Nice place for fishing, year round. There is another trail great for mountain biking, it goes down to Dort Rd. and has a split that goes up...

Beautiful place! The only problem was that I took my watch off and left it on one of the picnic tables so I could go swimming and came back and it was gone. It was a 15 dollar watch from walmart but still makes me uncomfortable to know someone was pathetic enough...
