We love the walking trails for our kids and dogs since its mainly shaded which is nice. The dog area is the biggest we have found so far, only thing is the bees are awful by the water fountain making it impossible for dogs to get water so I usually bring my own bowl to fill and set somewhere else. Today I didn't notice any by water only by trash which is to be expected. There isn't any shade unfortunately , ecspecialy where the sitting area is. Only a small corner area has shade. One of my biggest pet peeves is a dirty bathroom and I have always had this issue at parks ecspecialy but I have never had this issue here. As a owner of pitbulls I already expect to run into other dog owners that stereotype the breed. One of my pits were attacked by 2 golden retrievers while here, which punctured her ear leaving a visible hole that bleed everywhere. The owner was quick to blame my dog bc of her breed while she was covered in blood to the point you couldnt tell where it was coming from. The lady continued to rant on the breed for nearly 30 minutes while several others were trying to tell her as well her dogs caused it. My pit is actually an American Bully which is short and stocky a about 55 lbs but people don't know the breed and just use pit bull bc of her looks being identical. This also happened to my 83lbs pit by a small mix breed dog that shouldn't have been in the large dog side. I am only telling this story bc I want people to know the breed is not what the media wants you to think of it, any dog can cause harm and to see these two other dogs with one being a golden retriever ecspecialy , that should prove my point. My dogs have never shown agression ,while passing others they rarely even acknowledge them let alone bark at them. A dogs behavior is always going fo be based on the owner snd how it was brought up, just like you think of a child and...
Read moreClean and many different activities available for everyone! Settles Bridge Park features a skate park, basketball court, playground, dog park, and an array of paved/unpaved trails.
I visited on Christmas Day and explored most of the park. A few of the highlights are outlined below:
Skate Park: The skate park was full of children, teens, and young adults practicing different tricks on the different ramps and rails. It's really fun just to sit and watch. The older kids are respectful and give the younger kids space/time to practice as well.
Dog Park: The dog park was surprisingly clean. It might be one of my favorite dog parks to date. There aren't any wooded areas included in the space, so the landscape doesn't feel overgrown. It's easy to spot and avoid any dog waste (or go pick up after your dog). It was pretty cold, so there weren't a lot of dogs around - maybe 5 maximum at a time in the large dog park (almost none in the small dog park). My friend who visits the dog park more frequently mentioned that it's usually not too crowded - even during nicer weather. Thus, I highly recommend this park if you're worried about keeping track of your dog.
Trails: My mom and I walked the entire paved trail and the majority of the unpaved trails (through the trees). The paved trail is pretty straightforward, but the unpaved can get a bit confusing at times. They have maps posted throughout the forest, but it was a little difficult to figure out which direction to follow at the forks. If you can't read the map, don't worry. There are signs for "Parking", so as long as you follow those, you'll manage to navigate yourself out of the woods.
Overall, a great park. I will definitely be back with my dog again for the dog park...
