I visited with my friend, because it "says" it's handicap accessible. But if you're in a scooter or wheelchair, it IS NOT ACCESSIBLE!! I am not even visiting today with my regular power wheelchair, I'm in my electric foldable chair and I hit every door frame. There are rooms you go into but then you have to back out or turn around because the usual way out are steps. I'm a fall risk on a normal day so walking in a house with antiques is not feasible. The elevator can only take 2 people and my chair would NOT fit. The operator suggested, I back in but the hallway leading up to it is not large enough for this chair, nor the entrance to it. I hit the frame on both sides too many times. As I had to ask multiple volunteers to remove the ropes so I could get out of the house, they kept saying that even though the manor house is old it was handicap accessible. I told them flat out that they must mean that it's it is NOT WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY IN ANYWAY. Nor was it accessible for the woman using a rollator walker, she was hitting the door frames as well. If you are using a cane, then yes it is accessible but if you are needing wheels of any kind, I would not bother. Save yourself the hassle.
The train exhibit IS wheelchair accessible and and done quite beautiful by "Swanton Model Railroad Club.". They did an AMAZING job. I was definitely impressed. That's why this review got 1🌟 ONLY. Happy...
Read moreThis historical location always let's me know how much some people care about others and not themselves. Touring thru the house at Christmas is a tradition for my family and helps me fight away the Grinch. Although you get to see him somewhere here in the house. The Stranahan Family knows how to work for the community. Their blessing lives on! Wish the Champion Company that they founded was still alive and strong for Toledo. The place will bring you hope and joy if you need it every season. And how can you not love model trains on display! Who knew that you could have a shooting range and so many other wonderful rooms, nooks and crannies! Afterwards walking back to the parking lot I always enjoy toasting my marshmallows at the open fire. I go to the car sticky because I'm trying to lick the leftovers of my Smore off my fingers! Always a great time. Just make sure your warm if there's a wait to get in and bring walking shoes. Hope you have fun &...
