Beautiful place to camp. Stayed there 3 nights. Peaceful and quiet the whole time. It appears that all of the sites have tables, grills, and fire rings, unlike some campgrounds we have stayed at. We stayed at the Chickasaw area and had a beautiful view out of our door of the lake. Nice level concrete pads in the RV area. One drawback was not enough water spickets. Pads 45 and 46 shares a faucet half way between the two and a 25 foot hose barely was long enough by stretching it. Pad 47 is listed as having one but we had to run a hose across the road to obtain water, then block the road to make sure no one ran over the hose. The lake was extremely low so there wasn't much current. The grounds was well maintained and they were mowing at the other side of the park while we were there. Another drawback was the shower. The shower head was mostly clogged and you have to push in the button on the wall pretty hard for the water to come on, then it shuts off after after about 10-15 seconds. You spend most of the time showering pushing the button. There were a family of squirrels there to entertain us the whole time, eagles scoring overhead, ducks swimming in the lake, even a skunk tried to visit us while we were there but quickly scurried off into the darkness when it was discovered by the light...

We’ve always loved Cherokee Landing for camping. The last couple years, things to disappoint. Firstly, the grounds aren’t kept as well as previously. Secondly, I have been a citizen of Oklahoma all my life. Since my first job, I’ve paid income taxes. Also, I pay sales tax on every purchase I make in the state. Also, I pay for a drivers license. Also, my family pays property taxes (as well as our company). After all these thousands in taxes we pay every year, they want to tax us again just to enter a state Park to relax in. They didn’t ask the citizens of Oklahoma our opinion on this either. Every time you enter the Park, you must pay. A ridiculous thing for anyone to be required to pay.. especially those of us that already pays thousands in taxes to this state already. If you want to tax out of staters, makes more sense than us that are already paying...

This recreational park is a beautiful place to visit or to camp at, the lots are relatively cheap, only around $15-$25 to rent over night for RVs and campers with tents. They have a playground and restrooms for the public, that include new showers. There is a swim beach, boat dock and a disk golf course spread out across the parks grounds. It's conveniently located at the back of a general store/gas station for easy access to fuel and food items while you are staying within the campsite. If you haven't visited this location I suggest that you do so if you find yourself in Cherokee County, Oklahoma.

(Try to avoid this area between the months of May-July, as it is located off the banks of the Illinois River and is subject to flooding, and may cause hazardous materials to wash up and high waters leaving much of this recreational site inaccessible, or...

Nice camping spot next to the lake. There are rock overlooks that we sat out and looked at the lake and bridge for awhile, very pretty. Shaded in the late afternoon/evening. I booked online, but we spoke with ladies at park office before driving in. Unfortunately the electric at our site did not work and we did not know it until we already had camper set up. I called the office and she said “oh I was just about to call you, can you move to another spot?” That was a little frustrating. We were able to just run our cord to nearby spot so we didn’t have to move, but wish they would have said something. Otherwise we really enjoyed our time here.

I am a veteran who has a service dog. I went there to camp for a few days with another veteran. I was met with extreme hostility from all the male staff about my service animal. The females was very polite but the men was very argumentative and angry. They gave us dirty looks and when we waved at them they ignored us. They was yelling at me so bad I asked them to call the park rangers and there supervisor. When they refused I left the park. I felt extremely uncomfortable. Honor a your countries veterans and camp somewhere else where they show some respect.
