The Amicalola Falls Visitor Center is super nice with convenient parking. It’s a newer building. On the inside, you’ll find a mini cafe offering pre-packaged foods, drinks, and caffeinated beverages (coffee, lattes). You’ll also find a gift store and an informative section talking more about wildlife and other things found in the area. I’ve visited a couple of times and no matter how busy, the staff is always very nice and informative of where to go to see certain things (what part of the trails may be closed, where to best see the falls, etc.). I believe there’s also some newer restrooms right off the right side of the visitor center (I didn’t know this until my second visit when I heard an employee informing a visitor of where the...

The new visitor center is really nice! We enjoyed the different features they had. There's a small-scale model of the Mountains and Apalachian trail in Georgia that light up when you push a button for a certain town. There's also a cool wall of photos of local wild animals, and you can push a button to hear the sounds the animal makes. Then, they have live snakes you can see to identify them. A person came up to us and asked us if we had any questions about the wildlife - and we did! That was very helpful. There's also a nice little cafe inside with drinks and snacks, etc. There are lots of extras for sale and nice T-shirts. Definitely stop in when...

Fiancé undertook the trail herself and after reaching black gap had to turn around due to cold. After fearing for her safety due to excessive cold, I was asked to call this VC as she was near it. ABSOLUTELY barely any way to contact them. No number listed besides that of the resort. After googling for 5-8 minutes I found A number and had gotten in contact. Apparently, according to them, black gap is 80 miles from them and somehow not in amicalola state park???(it's literally only 16 miles and a 50 minute drive on typical roads) so they refused. She had to call 911 instead.

Good luck getting actual safety help from amicalola park Rangers as...

The best visitor center.. GA is famous for very good rest areas and visitor centers.. This is the best among the ones we visited I would say. Techie and upgraded one. It has well designed information elements- - Interactive map for Appalachian Mountain range - Interactive informative video screen - Birds and Animal sounds - Different information screens. - Informative and friendly associates Apart from that food center was really good and prices were regular not hiked up. Super clean and continuous maintenance of restrooms. Plenty of parking with different parking spots

August 27, 2023 Mary, Belle, and I went to Amicalola Falls State Park in Georgia August 27, 2023 pictures from Amicalola Falls and at the top of the gals. Belle got this beautiful picture of a butterfly too. The park's name is derived from a Cherokee language word meaning "tumbling waters". The park is home to Amicalola Falls, a 729-foot waterfall that is the highest in Georgia! 2 Sept 2024. September 2, 2024 Mary, Ashley, and I went to Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville Georgia!
