This hike was definitely something!

I'll start off by saying, I took a star off because it was quite overgrown which made it hard to find the trailhead.

It was a gorgeous hike but it was tough and I was not prepared so that's my own fault.

Depending on which way you go, the hike back up from the waterfall is brutal. It is straight up and feels like it's never going to end. The hike down didn't seem to bad but that was definitely before I was worn out. The waterfall isn't so much a waterfall but like a stream over a bunch of rocks. It is still beautiful and relaxing, just don't go into thinking you're going to see a massive waterfall.

If you plan to do this hike be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks but pack light. Where some great shoes or hiking boots.

I scouted this place out for my brother to propose to his girlfriend. It's absolutely gorgeous but I told my brother no way. You can't take your girlfriend on a hike like this to propose to her and then take her to the winery to meet with friends and family to celebrate.

I apologize for the blurry pictures as they are screenshots...

Depending on the trail you opt for this place can turn out to be a great hiking adventure as well as an amazing workout to get a good quality cardio. A piece of advice though- being on an elevation it's very easy to have high moisture, especially during June through September that will make you dehydrated very easily. Carry good amount of water and snack with you. Another observation- this is very light traveled trail, markings can be challenging to keep up with and losing track can be very easy but don't worry as that will only bring you back to the starting point, believing you've completed the entire trail. Make sure you give the guidance maps at the entrance a good read as I had to come back again to complete the...

Whew, great hike, but quite the leg zapper! Unfortunately, we did not make it to the falls on the Champion Creek Trail. After going 24 hours after heavy rains, the steepness and mud about 1.25 miles in deterred us from completing the trail. The return hike was very strenuous, so not sure if we could have done another 0.75+ miles of uphills. The trail was well marked but 95% downhill to the point we turned around. Our 2 Boston Terriers loved it, but their extra legs helped them better than the humans! My wife, preteen daughter, and I each slipped before calling off our descent. But, wow, we needed multiple stops on the ascent back to the parking lot. Would probably do the hike again to completion but only on...

Strenuous, secluded hike. The signs of the Champion Creek Trail say 2.0 miles, that is just to the creek, then 2.0 miles back up. The website states that the hike drops 800 feet, requiring an 800 feet incline on the way back up. The falls were beautiful, we went in July and the falls had quite a few snakes hanging around, just be aware with kids and dogs. Very quiet, tranquil and well maintained trail. My 4-year old was able to do most of the downhill 2 miles but had to be carried the 2 miles up hill. Just a heads up for other parents! 😊 She loved the creek time, lots of salamanders!
