Overall 4.5 stars (there isn't an option for 4.5 so I gave them the benefit of the doubt). Breathtaking views! And, several viewing platforms for great picture taking. 5 stars for the views! We went on a Monday around lunchtime, so we were one of only two or three cars there. There are several trail options. The trails are very short and narrow (Max length is 1.7 miles) so great for someone who doesn't want to go far. The trails are marked, but could be updated to make them more visible (4 stars for this aspect). The "privy" is not for the faint of heart, and is no frills (bring your own toilet paper, just in case). Free parking!...

Nice work out, great view.
The trails were easily marked but Iwish they had distance markers and/ or a better map at the beginning.
The blue (moderate) trail at the end when you are already tired was a bit of a challenge. Walking stick was definitely a plus.
The only issue I had was, in mid May the ticks were AWFUL. I had sprayed myself and the dog prior to going out and we both left with ticks on us.
I will probably go back but in late fall/...

The old obelisk statue of James Oglethorpe has been moved to downtown Jasper. This mountain used to be the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail before being moved to a different mountain. Regardless this peak us still the southernmost mountain if the Blue Ridge chain. The views alone are worth it. The history makes it better yet. Be careful traveling here in the winter if it's icy. At this elevation the narrow roads can be...
