Update: figured I would wait until a fair update could be made. The wine has definitely improved (time has made a huge difference!) as normal with any good wines. Thank you for offering more of a selection with ciders and sparklings. The food is amazing and I love that itâs updated and fresh with seasonal offerings. The sandwiches are always fresh and stuffed to the hilt with whatever ingredients are being offered up at the moment. The gifts are phenomenal and many havenât made their way from my home to their intended recipients!! The staff: canât say enough good things about this topic. Thank you Steve, for always noticing us. Thank you bar staff for having patience (noticeably with many) and being knowledgeable on wines & food. In one sentence: Roo is good for the soul. (The wild flowers, please donât ever do away with them!) Honestly, canât wait to see what else is in storeâŠ
Ok - just going to be 100% real (as a local of Ellijay..) absolutely stunning beyond words and the grounds are truly amazing. You guys outdid yourselves⊠the view, the atmosphere⊠150% spot on. Loved everything about it. Took our breath away .. we didnât realize the beauty right in our own backyard. The wine: so-so. Not a lot of flavor in the whites (did a sampling) - reds were a bit sour, again, just ok. The beers were great. Good selection, bypassed the wine and went for the beer! Service: needs a little work as far as removing empty glasses off tables. Saw him once and then never again for the next 2.5 hrs we were there. Music: too loud. Canât hold a conversation unless youâre lucky enough to be sitting more towards the mountain views rather than by the music. Iâd love to hear just a softer acoustic band and no singing. The singing was too loud and actually became annoying⊠many commented on it - all we wanted was to enjoy the drinks, have great conversation, enjoy the atmosphere and the views⊠without all that singing! We Will Be Back regardless- as you guys really have such a gem. Congratulations on the vineyard!!!...
Read moreWe have had the opportunity to travel throughout the country, tasting wine in the CA, WA/OR, MI, MD, and GA regions. We are always excited to try new wineries that open, and we had the opportunity to visit Roo Vineyards today.
I felt we were entering Napa Valley when I approached the vineyards. Lines of beautiful mature grape vines lined across open fields with a beautiful mountain backdrop. As we approached the main tasting area, I was very impressed with how they incorporated the wine-tasting and entertainment area with clear, beautiful mountain range views.
The main sitting area was well-designed and thought out, with several separate spaces and wine barrels scattered throughout. I absolutely love the arbor style with retractable roof blinds to shield visitors on a hot summer day.
We decided to go with the red wine flight mixed with a Syrah, Merlot, Cab Sauv and a red blend.
While the wine was OK, I wouldn't say it was our best red wine. Our favorite red was definitely the Merlot which had an amazingly smooth and balanced finish. However, I think the wine flight, in general, was very tannin forward, which they do present in the notes. The heavy tannins really overpowered the fruity or sweetness of the Plum/Blueberry (Syrah) or the Black Cherry (Cabernet). The finish for 3 of the wines was more of a long and persistent bitter taste that lingers on the palate. If you like really dry wines with uneven balance, you will love the Cab Sauv.
Overall â this is a fantastic place to go with friends and family to enjoy some wine. They also offer beer and cider, which I thought was great. It makes it more enjoyable for everyone. The wines were OK, but the price point makes me feel they are overrated. If you look at all the other wineries around the area, the price point is high, so the expectations should be high. I believe Ott Farm's reds are better balanced for the price point, and off in the distance over in Young Harris Crane Creek is an exceptional red...
Read moreIf you had told me that a winery in the rolling mountains of Ellijay would transport me to a realm of pure enchantment, I might have laughedâuntil I stepped foot into this absolute gem of a place. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had wandered into some kind of vineyard fairytale where the wine flows like poetry, the food is crafted by culinary wizards, and the scenery is so breathtaking it could cure even the grumpiest of moods.
We started our adventure with a glass of their Apple Wine, a drink so crisp and delightful that Iâm convinced it was bottled straight from the Garden of Eden (before things got dramatic, of course). My husband, ever the explorer, opted for the Riesling, a golden elixir that danced on his palate like a well-choreographed waltz.
And then came the feast: I had a garden salad adorned with fresh apples and drizzled in poppyseed dressingâso light, so refreshing. My husband indulged in the turken sandwich, a delightful creation that left him speechless for a moment (a rare and beautiful occurrence).
The service? Warmer than a sunbeam on a fall afternoon. The cleanliness? Immaculateâlike the kind of place where even a single crumb would feel out of place. And the view? Well, if I could bottle it up and take it home, I would. Rolling vineyards, golden sunlight, and the kind of peaceful ambiance that makes you forget all your worldly worries.
If youâre looking for a winery that will transport you to a land of good vibes, great flavors, and pure magicâthis is the place. 10/10, would happily get lost in this dreamy vineyard...
