Went to play pickle ball, but the 4 courts that they have were full so we went to the tennis courts since there were MANY that were free (plus they have a dozen + tennis courts compared to the 4 pickle ball courts) and we got told that we “weren’t allowed to play pickle ball at this time on the tennis courts”. One, why do you all only have 4 pickle ball courts, yet a dozen + tennis courts!? Two, there were many tennis courts open, so we did no harm taking up one court to play, yet for some reason it was problem to this old man. As he stated, “this is for people who want to play tennis and if you’re on here, then you’re taking their court”. Which I would completely understand if there were people waiting to play tennis, but there weren’t. I see no harm in going to an open court to play a sport that is very similar to tennis when there aren’t any other folks waiting to play tennis. To the city of Tallahassee and Tom Brown Park, either get more pickle ball courts at your locations or just allow people to play on open tennis courts if there aren’t tennis players waiting to play. It’s...
Read moreTom Brown Park is probably one of the best municipal parts in the area and the only thing it lacks is a large swimming area.
Years ago the crystal Lagoon people that built one near the Tampa area we're looking at Tallahassee and Tallahassee missed out big-time. Tallahassee has some terrific swimming pools, and a state park inside the city limits with a swimming area that unfortunately is strictly shallow water.
What color springs does offer cool water and a high dive at the State Park just south of town but the city of Tallahassee really needs a nice water park Lake combination that includes a high dive and or zip lines as well as swings.
If such a place was at Tom Browne think about how awesome the yearly Fourth of July celebration would be. I think most of us who live in the city I would happily pay a few dollars each to get into such a expensive construction project So eventually the city might recoup the cost.
Other than that I think the city of Tallahassee doesn't actually jobs Park...
Read moreHello, Pretty much just riding around with the dogs after a vet visit. Took them to the little dog fenced area. They met a couple other little dogs and played a bit until they were stepping on their tongue. Even with the shade and water all the dogs were ready for a nap on a cool floor. It was a place that on a cooler day that the pups could last longer and maybe meet a few other 4 leggers. There is so much land and activities that are available within the park boarder and the connected parks that it really is a gift to have such a place as Tom Brown Park. The folks who take care of the grounds and trails do a great job. Playgrounds, bike/ walking trails for miles, RC track, huge disc golf course, big trees to chill under, lakes, picnic pavilions and on and on and on. There is so much you can do there. Next time I'm there, I'll take a few pictures. I'm sure there are lots of pics available to get a scope of the...
