Aman Park in Ottawa County, just west of Grand Rapids, is a great place for a walk in the woods. Any season is good. The trails are very well maintained and good in the summer or under snow cover. In general, the trails are well marked, with some exceptions where trails meet and the direction to go may be unclear. However, the park is pretty hard to get really lost in. Lots of elevation change from the parking area down to Sand Creek, so this provides for some nice views across the small valley. Lots of dog lovers use the park, but only saw the dogs and not what might need to be picked up. Did see some aphids on the beech trees. Let's hope those are not the extremely destructive variety. A hardy wheelchair user might be able to navigate some of the trails. However, in at least one place a tree limb blocked the trail. Could walk around it, but wheeling around would be problematic. Read moreMy family and I love this park, however today had a strange experience with a fellow hiker and wanted to put it out there. A strange man walked up behind my daughter and I silently on the bridge and stood very close and commented on a bruise on my daughters leg without a hello or anything. It was strange, then he noticed my husband and other children up ahead and proceeded to them and our dog was imeadiately spooked by him. Our dog is a very friendly laberdoodle and was afraid of this man, not usually afraid of anyone. They guy asked a few more strange prying questions then walked ahead and left. We later saw him driving out in a white truck, and it seemed pretty normal. We will continue to frequent this park, but will be bringing the pepper spray next time. Stay...
