For the most part, it’s pretty clean every time I go out there I feel like since it’s free I should pick up some garbage that I see, just because it’s not mine doesn’t mean I don’t have to do it. A lot of people are lazy these days. I’m lazy too but at least I can clean up after myself. I always try to leave a place better than when I arrived. Just how I am I guess overall it’s a great place 50-50. If you’re a woman and worried about safety as I don’t see any cameras out there there are quite a few homeless people, but they stay to themselves Just because they’re homeless doesn’t mean they’re bad. But overall, I give it four stars. there are bathrooms not sure if they’re locked or not. It is right next to a military base. There’s also boardwalks that you can walk through the main roads and come out too little sandy areas which I should warn always wear shoes out there either shelves or lazy people that use needles like to leave their stuff on the ground. There is a grassy area with a small playground that overlooks the Howard Franklin and the airport. It’s pretty cool watching airplanes take off and land from a distance. If you go I hope...
Read moreI really liked this place. The water is nice and clear, not crazy packed with people, just a few fisherman scattered out. Lots of bird wildlife and stingrays to catch sight of. Cool exploring for shells along the mangrove beaches. There’s a small mangrove island to explore as well, across the lagoon.
What I did NOT like - the two different homeless tent camps set up within the mangroves. Especially the one with piles and piles and piles of trash outside of their tent. It looks like a landfill. All of that garbage is going to end up in the bay. Heartbreaking and unnecessary. They could easily bring their trash 40-50 feet to the trash cans - not just toss it outside their tents. There’s some sort of similar situation on the mangrove island with a massive mound of garbage from what used to be a homeless...
Read moreBeautiful, gorgeous, calm, lovely! BUT full of homeless people and tents and garbage, the water has a. Bunch of wallets, underwear, clothes and I found over 10 needles. I was excited when I saw the little island and we t to walk through the water to check it out but the island had 4 blue tarps and a bunch of other stuff hung through the mangroves and there was a group of 3 homeless there, in total I saw 8 in the area and it made me uncomfortable. There was only one small area of beach where there wasn't a homeless person where I could set up an...
