Picnic Island Park — Attraction in Tampa

Awesome fishing if you catch the right time..if you miss it or early you will just be practicing..the no fishing on the new dog area of the beach is very annoying but if you go late there is no enforcement. That starts around 7 am. Nvr had any problems with the people who come there..seems sketchy but its actually pretty safe. BRING BUG SPRAY! or you wont have a good time. I can not stress this enough. If you dont have any the bugs will pick you up and carry you to the woods to suck you dry..not in a good way. Bring your own bait or cast net there is no bait shop..the sand is nice..atleast it was a week ago..but that can change after a storm or red tide. Its very peaceful and nice place to get away and relax. I have a good time even if i dont catch anything. There are bathrooms but i dont believe they are open at night..dont quote me on that as ive nvr tried to use them. Remember bug spray or your tail end will resemble braille and will say "must be uncomfortable for the person reading this message sorry i didnt listen and used bug spray. Scratch right here" apparently the mosquitos and noseeums are super smart. I hope this helps and you enjoy your time at picnic island. I sure do. Be respectful and clean up your trash please. So I went here to get a nice review of the area. It was a bit of a drive from where I was staying and wanted to help others out if at all possible. However, after driving in, I was a little unsure of what I would discover.

There is an industrial area adjacent to the park. Which is probably the reason there is SOOOOO much litter on the beach. I was so disappointed that me reviewing the area turned into me being so upset with all the litter in and around the water that it was difficult for me to enjoy the beach. With that, there are several photos I just didn't get.

People of the world we have to do better. When you liter, you endanger the sea, wildlife, and ultimately anyone who eats from the sea. One person and one act can make a difference.

You can still enjoy the water, wildlife, boats cruising, or skirting across the water. Also, watching a plane or two fly in and out. I am amazed at the formation of the shells that fuse together to make a...

Its my home away from home. For a small beach. Its very full on weekends. Best time to go is week days when everyone is working 😆. I take time off from work sometimes. Just to come here and enjoy nature and peace. It's so beautiful and packed beach or not it's well kept😍😍😍. Only ugly part about it is. What it looks like before you get here. Looks like a place you probably should not be at 😳💀😳💀. Do to it being a shipping yard and abandon ship yard and construction sight. Which one of the sights they just started using again. As well as the gas line and gas storage facilities are also here. But once you make that RIGHT hand turn into the park. You know YOUR IN THE RIGHT AREA. But I still have it 5stars. Because again the Park itself is BEAUTIFUL😍. Best way to describe it is. Having a mansion right in the middle of a bunch of abandoned buildings lol. Which is not the fault...
