Bowling Brook Mansion — Attraction in Taneytown

Words cannot describe how much I loved having my reception at Bowling Brook! From the venue itself to the crew's incredible flexibility, I felt like I barely had to do anything on my wedding day. The venue is so spacious, but also perfect with its small side rooms you can drift off to for an easy conversation without the DJ playing over you. The furniture provided was great and sturdy. Also, I loved that they set aside one of the nicest rooms in the house as the Bridal Prep Room to lounge in before the party starts. The best parts are the view though. Daytime, afternoon, and nighttime, this place is beautiful no matter what. They also have wonderful spots to take the most unique photos and we got the BEST sunset backdrop!

The team at Bowling Brook is a very well-oiled machine. They immediately knew how to assist catering, the DJ, and have the bar set up. Every moment ran smoothly. I felt like I was truly able to enjoy the night and worry about nothing.

I do recommend taking advantage of their bar services. They can do most drinks and the bar manager was willing to let me set up signature cocktails while still providing the common options for guests to choose from.

Finally, I just want to commend their flexibility. We had to reschedule the reception during COVID and they moved with us to another date with no problem. They also were willing to go with the flow as we changed up our vision and let us move furniture around (or remove when is clashed with what we wanted).

Added October 2020: Attended a wedding during pandemic restrictions. There was was no distancing, nor mask requirements. Those in charge were wearing face shields without masks which essentially do nothing. Per the governor's guidelines, everyone should have worn masks since the chairs nor tables were socially distanced. It's a beautiful place, however, everyone should be adhering to the present rules during these abnormal times to prevent spread to others. It was truly unfortunate and incredibly uncomfortable. UPDATED January 13, 2023: If a business decided to host large social gatherings prior to vaccinations being available, they should have gone above and beyond to ensure all safety protocols were in place. It was the responsibility of the venue to ensure adherence, not the responsibility of those getting married. Sadly, had this business responded to the review, as most do, I may have considered an adjustment, instead they start a campaign to invalidate my opinion. Given the fact we will require wedding venues in the future, it was a very unprofessional way to handle a poor review. UPDATE #2 January 14, 2023: Updated rating based on a response from the business 2 years and 3 months after my original review. I had the honor of DJing Connor and Taylor Cunningham’s wedding at Bowling Brook Mansion on October 9th, 2021, and I cannot express enough how incredible this venue is!
