My first visit to Wind Vineyards was to the monster truck show. They have worked tirelessly to create a welcoming and easy entertainment space. Very much needed in central Virginia. The drive from Fredericksburg (40 miles) was very easy and relaxing. There are two venues. The first one is the actual winery, then driving past it and around back is the event space. The ticketing online and at the venue was very easy. There were many interesting vendors and food trucks. Ample parking. But a bit of a walk from the parking lot. The walk is also through mowed fields, with uneven ground. I suggest good flat closed toe shoes. I suggest a wagon or stroller to move chairs or children. I attended with three little grandsons ages 4,4,& 11. This was a wonderful event for their age. The festival alone offered many kid friendly activities. A barrel train, pony rides, laser tag, bounce pad, a sluice water wheel, and many events to watch. There are a few bleachers, but lawn chairs are suggested. There is a tent awning section as well. They have done a wonderful job, with Grape Crusher. A huge monster truck with eight safety seats in the back for truck rides. And it was an exciting fast bouncing ride. From the time you get there, all the food trucks and food stands are open for a day of eating. As well as the Wind Wine tent. I did not partake in wine, but anyone over 21 received an armband to identify those enjoying the wine. What is the price you will pay for an event that’s much needed in our area. That would be my take away. The prices are steep, you are enjoying a wonderful show and the food is hot and ready and it runs for five hours. But you’re going to pay for it. To the Wind family; THANK YOU!!!!!! Keep doing the awesome job you’re doing!!! Suggestions; Signage, it was hard to figure out how to get the bags of gem dirt, where lines started, costs of each single event, Picnic tables, a well marked first aid tent, and more/better speakers in the bleacher area. I know all of these things are falling under growing pains. I look forward to seeing you at the hot air balloon weekend. Thank you for creating such a needed and wonderful event space. Tyler, the word will...

In response to the almost automated and repetitive response given to each community member by Wind Vineyards, the issue was not with the Vineyard itself (although commenting members of the community have since expressed their own separate but similar unprofessional occurrences within the vineyard) but was simply due to Mr. Wind’s complete disrespect, unprofessionalism, ignorance and entitlement places on a local photographer within the community of which photo he stole. He then tried to send a random Google link saying him using the photo was officially legal while putting down her work- then why use it in the first place? The photographer as mentioned respectfully messaged the Vineyard page to make notice that permission was not given for the copyrighted photo when Wind himself unprofessionally responded with no care in the world. The photographer only posted of her unfortunate encounter with the business and each person of their own free will shared or commented. Since that post she has not made any others for any ‘personal vendetta’ or made any further comments on the matter. Community members- as Wind responded and said that friends/family/customers have ‘secretly’ added 5 star reviews, have also made their own choices based off of Wind’s unjustified communication with said photographer. The blame can only be placed on one person when the conversation could have went the whole other way if 1. He got permission from the Copyright owner legally and 2. If he wouldn’t have said such hatred words in the way that he did and instead asked permission right there or removed the photo that instant. Do not go blaming others for your...
Read moreMy family and I attended the Wind Vineyards Fall Festival this past weekend. We chose to come to this festival and drove 1 & 1/2 hours from Maryland, rather than check out local festivals. Not a good decision for various reasons.
Cons: -Only one food truck rather than multiple as advertised on site. -Food and drinks were sold at location not close to the "fun" stuff. -$3/ticket for the corn cannon and whizzer ride (not worth it). -No rock/repelling wall, but rather a 10 ft tree trunk with some climbing holds attached to it. -Roping steers was not what you think.....plastic/fake small cows. -Duck races were little plastic ducks in a water tube. Again, not what we expected. -There was only one moon bounce, rather than multiple as advertised. They did have a inflatable slide. -Minimal vendors selling arts & crafts, etc. -Wine....not good.
Pros: -The staff was nice and extremely helpful. Gave a partial refund for tickets we did not use. -Monster truck ride was amazing! $15 for 4 minute ride seemed excessive. But it was great and our kids had a blast. -Jumping pillow was a hit with a lot of the children. Rather large inflatable trampoline for them to go crazy.
This festival, if you want to call it that, was designed more for Tappahannock locals than out of town visitors. We learned a valuable lesson that driving that far is not worth it, especially for this smaller farm fest. Unfortunately, we probably won't return unless it's to eat dinner at NN Burger. We gave it two stars mainly because of the Grape Crusher monster truck experience and the staff....
