I’m sure this place is a lovely little time when the lake is on the cleaner side (or when one is unaware that Wylie has had numerous sewage spills 🥴). I’m sure many people love it. It has glowing reviews.

Here, however, we’re calling a spade a spade. This is not a public park. It is a residents only park which allows pedestrian visitors (I didn’t see any sidewalks and don’t know the area, but I’m assuming you could walk in from somewhere?) and/or non resident members. I mean, that is what that $100 “parking permit” is. It is a membership fee to the park. That is semi-false advertising on an annoying level.

The frequent park explorer is typically prepared for an admissions fee or daily parking permit at a lakeside park with swimming, state and national parks, and the like. But they don’t anticipate ponying up $100. Not only that, but I called the town - and you even have to leave and go to the town hall to acquire such a permit. That’s a chore. The other option is to pay that $100 as a fine.

So, if you wanna join - cool. But it isn’t really a great casual spot for a family to drop in.

Best Regards to you,...

This is our favorite beach for swimming in the Charlotte area. Not super crowded, secluded, small and clean. Water gets deep and there is no lifeguard, I'd definitely recommend bringing floaties for small children. There are no boats allowed near shore on the beach side, but there is a small dock opposite for kayakers and paddle boarders to come ashore.

There is a short walk to two single bathrooms with running water--which I always consider a plus at beaches (although the last time we visited someone had taken the knob for the second bathroom's timed lights).

*Note: There is a $100 permit fee for the calendar year (Jan 1 - Jan 1), which I believe is a deterrent for most people. If you can't afford the permit & have an extended drive to get to it I'd recommend not wasting your time on this beach, there is not much parking and no spaces without permit required (it's deep in a private community, so there is no option to park and walk the rest of the way). The fine for parking without permit is $100, and they ticket regularly (you can read a one star review from another visitor...

Water and sand smells like rotten chicken livers in a crime scene people are rude as hell. Garbage all over beach along with broken glass that cut my foot open making me bleed all over the beach. When I went to my truck to clean up my foot someone had called the police and complained that I didn’t have some permit. The officer informed me that the only way you can enjoy the lake is if either you live in the next door neighborhood or you go to the courthouse And request a permit for $100. So I got a $100 parking ticket. I tried to do the right thing by not getting in the lake where it says no swimming and drive 30 minutes to one of the only 2 places supposedly that you can swim and I get a ticket for it. There is only one small sign that says anything about the permit. This place is full of stuck up rich people that think they own the whole lake. This $*t hole isn’t worth $10 a year. Will never return. Would rate negative one...

Very cool hidden gem! Two small beaches and multiple docks to jump off of into the water. I will say though, they are VERY STRICT on parking. We went on a Saturday and somebody was at the entrance asking if we had the ($200/year) permit to park there and of course we didn't so we drove up and parked where a bunch of other cars were in front of people's houses, there was a cop car parked watching everyone do this so I assumed it was fine. We had a great time at the beaches and we walk back to the car to see we had a $100 parking ticket, written about 15 minutes after we parked. So BEWARE. Also, multiple cop cars come and just sit at the park monitoring everything. Overall, cool hidden small park but there needs to be better options for parking

I'm giving 5 stars for the swim area and lake itself. There is NO PUBLIC PARKING and if you do park in the parking lot, there are police cars, like sharks, come every 5 minutes to check if you have a pass. As soon as a family/anyone with a car come to enjoy the beach, there they are, the police, security or maybe even residents show right up to tell you you can't be there or give you a ticket...There is no parking on the streets either. The only way to actually enjoy the beach is to come on a golf cart (that means you have to live there or very close by) or to have someone drop you off. It wasn't like this 2-3 years ago, but now they made it for people who live there ONLY, looks like.

Oh my gosh! What a find! We had just a few hours to kill before heading for the airport in Charlotte and found this little park on the tip of a peninsula on Lake Wylie. The park has multiple swing chairs, and a child sized swing set, overlooking the lake, several “beach” areas, a public bathroom, charcoal grills and a dock for fishing/swimming. It’s large enough for parties, but small enough never to be too crowded. It is so charming and nestled way back into a neighborhood in Tega Cay. Would be a great place for a family picnic, photo shoot, romantic (cheap) date and swimming with friends or kids. Loved it.
