My daughter completed gymnastics camp recently. I was incredibly disappointed with the camp overall. The level of gymnastics is subpar and the amount of time doing it is much lower than it should be. My daughter said the lines and waiting was long at events and there were frequently less spotters than needed. I don't think she grew at all as a gymnast which is sad given how excited she was for the experience. Outside of that, she said the food was poor quality even for a camp (She has spent weeks at other camps before and loved the food. This looked like packaged microwave dinners in the few photos she sent) and there were times when the campers had a problem and no adult or counselor could be found. This includes a time when one camper threatened another that they had a knife and would stab them in their sleep. They couldn't find their counselor and were told by another not to worry about it. That was a great phone call to get when she is on the other side of the country. Which also brings me to the fact that they allow the campers to have phones and my daughter said that all the girls did most of the day during free time was troll social media. Not exactly the experience I thought I was paying for. Woodward offers 2 drops of photos throughout the week (for a ridiculous amount of money to have access) and while they do say there is no guarantee your child will be in one (which is understood), the second drop did not even include anyone in the gymnastics portion of the camp, and both were clearly taken over several short sessions maybe totaling an hour of time over the full week. Overall, I could not be less impressed with this camp, and Aly Raisman should be ashamed that her name is associated with it. I expect she has no idea of the disaster that is the gymnastics portion of the camp, but she should be more in tune to something that draws girls from all over the country...
Read moreThis camp was so fun! Check in and everything was so easy and smooth. And finding my cabin and meeting my neighbors was so easy and fun. I was doing parkour. Not only did I do that, it was the week for the USPK Nationals. So I was able to compete in multiple competitions even though I don't compete in parkour. I won all 3 parkour events and won hats, oscars, and even free HEADPHONES. Not only did I have a great time, I learned so many tricks I dreamed of landing thanks to the awesome and patient staff. And I've probably made more new friends I've made in a week that I make in 2 months. And when we had the tour the staff was so nice and clear. And the canteen was probably the best thing there for food. There was bowling, ice cream, games, and more. It kinda sucked though I couldn't get a milkshake though cause the machine was always broken. I also enjoyed meeting lots of pros and watching people do the dirt bike jumps at night. This was my first camp without parents, and I hope to come back again. And the food was great, and there was cereal. I'm not allowed to have cereal at home so I had a lot of cereal. The counselor was so chill, and we had so much fun in our cabins. We had mini concerts playing playboi carti, K lamar, and so much more. And the bedding was comfy aswell. I'm so blessed to live 4 hrs from this place. I hope to...
Read moreMy boys had a great time, BUT when my son did a scooter trick, HIT his head and was knocked unconscious they refused to call an ambulance or even make him to the hospital. He had a black eye, his neck was hurting and he could NOT remember what happened. He was also disoriented. The Med director insisted he was fine. I insisted they call an ambulance. I was told by her and the general manager that they were calling an ambulance all while they tried to explain their credentials to me. My older son was there also, so I was contacting him by phone. They even put my injured son on the phone to tell me he was fine after talking to him 10 minutes earlier and he was totally disoriented. Still no ambulance was called. I had to call the sheriff ( We live 6 hours from the camp) and have an ambulance go pick up my son. The hospital ER staff were astonished that Woodward staff did not call the ambulance or bring him in. He had a severe concussion black eye and was bruised up bad. After CT scan and xrays he is ok.Dr. Instructions to take him every 2 hours and make sure he was coherent. Doc said Woodward definitely should have brought him in or called ambulance. I am in shock at how Woodward West...
