This large body of water is picturesque, and allows many activities. The entirety of this lake, to include the shoreline is managed by US Army Corps of Engineers. The city of Temple may support this park, but Corps of Engineers is the primary manager of the water. This means you will not see personal docks in this lake. Temple lake Park is five of five stars, due to the many day sites, a protective cove, and low entry fee of $5.00 per car load. If you are a veteran, you can file for your free pass, that is good for all federal park locations. The lake does get busy on the weekends, so parking may be limited, but you should be able to get parking on any given day. Water shoes are recommended, as this is not a sand beach. It is pea size gravel, and due to recent flooding, may have some submerged items like sticks. In general the park is very clean and...
Read moreThe beach area is rocky, but nice. Of course someone always ruin a visit. There is a sign stating No Pets, a family had two dogs there. In the 2 1/2 hrs they were out there, she finished the whole bottle of wine & he drank a 12 pack (I counted). To make matters worse, each time he finished a beer he filled it with water to sink it. THEN when she finished her bottle of wine, she sank the bottle. All out by the perimeter buoy! There was trash lying around also. My husband picked some of it up, but we refused to pick up the dog feces. There needs to be someone around policing...
Read moreThe park itself is nice and a great place to swim. however, everytime I go I pick up trash after people. The problem is with the parks waste management. Yes they have dumpsters, but they are so far away from where people are. This is part of the trashy problem. They need to get 50 gallon barrels and place them along the Beach part of the lake. This way people are less inclined to just leave garbage everywhere. Also, they need the barrels at the pavillions too for the same reason. The signs say no glass, yet it is everywhere there including in the water. I enjoy swimming there I just wish they had better...
