After having an amazing experience at L'Aventure about a year ago, the wife and I knew we had to come back to Paso Robles to taste more of the regions' wines. Funny enough there is a connection between Clos Selene and L'Aventure as Guillaume, (the owner and vintner), at one time worked for L'Aventure. Also funny, the GPS of our rental Nissan Rogue for some reason directed us to L'Aventure instead of Clos Selene when we went. Luckily Google Maps gave us the correct directions.
After we parked and began walking up to the tasting area we were greeted by Laurie as she walked up to us with a glass of Rose for each of us. Such an elegant touch. She brought us to our outdoor table, which was already set up, and we began our journey. Laurie was very kind and knowledgable. She told us all about the winery and Guillaume and his approach to winemaking. It was a great experience. We spent about an hour there and ended up buying a bottle of the 2016 Fleur De Solene.
Great wines and great people. Definitely make a point to stop by Clos Selene if your coming to Paso to...
Read moreMy wife and I visited Clos Solene for the first time on Saturday 28 June. Our overall experience was simply outstanding and we will definitely make a return visit in the future. Of note, we really appreciate that Guillaume allocated time from his busy schedule of hosting another party to get to know us and answer some questions regarding his wine and current projects - namely the cave. It was very nice to meet and talk with Guillaume. Also, the Hospitality Team of Tyler & Sophia were very knowledgeable about the wines, the winery & vineyards, as well as the terroir. Both did an outstanding job taking care of us throughout the tasting experience to include explaining and showcasing how they prepared some of the cheese pairings. Finally, and foremost for my wife and I - the wines were all well balanced, complex, with many displaying long finishes and intensity of aromas/flavors. There were many favorites that we tasted. We feel the wines exemplify the passion & vision that Guillaume shared with us.

Read moreOur time at Clos Solène was by far our favorite in Paso Robles. The experience felt like we were welcomed into their home with Solène’s homemade bread and cheese shaved table side (this specific service isn’t on the “menu” - we were just fascinated and had to see for ourselves). Our friend, Alejandro, guided us through the tasting with care and knowledge, remaining unassuming for Texans that admire the craft of winemaking yet lack the finer details of experts. This could have been the only stop on the itinerary, and we would have been satisfied.
If you are on the fence to visit, I encourage you to do one thing: ask the locals. It was amazing to see how faces would light up when you tell them you were going / have gone to this winery. Everyone had a story, and not one was bad.
It was a no brainer to get a membership here. I’m excited to see where they go in the future. P.S. ask to see the...
