Great hidden gem in Tennessee! I drove up from Huntsville and was pleased at the 3 hour 15 minute round (walking) when there seemed to be plenty of people on the course. Greens were excellent, although they are doing a full green and bunker renovation this summer. This should make the greens much larger and the bunkers more playable. Fairways were in great shape. The people are so nice and accommodating. They truly care about this place, and it shows. Can’t wait to be back after the renovation!

Talk about excellent service! The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating… drinks, snacks, directions to the tee boxes/range. This is a great course and plays very similar to another Bear Trace, Harrison bay. However, the sand traps at Harrison Bar are definitely superior. This course drains better and plays more challenging and less forgiving than Harrison Bay. Great state park course. Great views. Great experience. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon!!

Played the course the first weekend of October and couldn't be more pleased with the experience. I see some negative reviews lately, however, I thought the course was in great condition. Bunkers were maintained (I found many of them), greens rolled true, and fairways were in great condition. Pace of play was a little slow at times, however we did play at 9am on a beautiful Sunday, so we expected it.

4 stars to the course, amazing course, some bunkers are just dirt and mud, so that sucked. 0 stars for the staff and courses' "Top Pro". We went to play for a (non rowdy) bachelor party, added a 5th guy last minute. The staff refused to allow a 5 man scramble (I understand their reasoning) and made us play as a separate 2 sum and 3 sum. Yet after we started there was a traffic jam within 3 holes. With a traffic jam ahead, and nobody behind our groups, and with the marshal's permission after she saw us waiting, we paired up and was still quicker then the couple 2sums that were holding up everything. Then the starter saw that we had paired up (the marshal didn't tell him we had her permission) and threw a fit and made us separate, for no other reason (he even said its a stupid rule and doesn't make since in our situation, "we don't want to upset the locals and the course pro" he told us). Then the course pro saw us paired up and threw a fit as well, and proceeded to have another marshal come separate us again for no reason.

long story short, the staff leads without ration, and the course pro likes to try and flex on people with his position. All around a pretty...

I give it 3 stars because of the great course it is. The staff is friendly and the food is great. Here's my negative.... Every year I travel there to enjoy Tims Ford state park and play at least 1 round of golf. This time was horrible! They had booked up the course completely full before 10am. My tee time was 10am. I'm a single with a rider. They tried to inform me that they had booked someone else to tee off at 10am also! Complete disregard. I've played 10 or 11 different courses and have never seen such a cluster of people. Group on the green, group in fairway, me on the tee box, and another 2 finishing up the prior hole. Playing at a fast pace is one thing, but with so many people just clustered around it was no fun. Unable to get in any type of rhythm whatsoever. I ended up leaving right in the middle of the 3rd hole. One of the greatest courses I've played on. When you cant enjoy it, it doesn't matter how nice it is. Might wanna think about making tee times 15 mins apart instead of 10. Golf is frustrating enough sometimes without having rush. People come from many places to play this course, let us enjoy it and appreciate...

Booked a weekend trip here. Stayed at the park. Booked T times and arrived early. Inside staff kept repeating how busy they where... parking lot was maybe half full. Waited 15 mins at the food counter and just started the course due to no service. Got to the first t box and Marshall took 15 mins to "check our receipts". Course has really gone down hill since I was last here (about 5 years). Marshall kept driving around harassing everyone. Stopped us over 3x during play to tell us to hurry up when the group in front of us was still on the green. There was 2 teenagers behind us walking and he was harassing them the same. (it was over 100 degrees outside). we finished up the round (3 hrs to play 18) and there was no one in the parking lot at 4pm. I will NOT plan a trip to return. If we're in the area maybe but $80 for 18 and mediocre condition with harassment every other hole ill take my $$ and family else where. If you are staying at TFSP just go play scenic view or Sewanee. Both are cheaper, better, and...
