So I've struggled over reviewing my recent visit to the mansion. My girlfriend wanted to come see it we take day trips to places a couple times a month as we are newer to Tennessee so we like to see new places great small towns. Etc. We have a neighbor who grew up in McMinnville and in talking with him he wasn't high on the visit. We spent the day in town lunch seeing some cool stuff. We decided to enr it at the mansion. Sp ill start there. My first impression upon entering the building t9 book the tour was just a plain tourist trap. Eclectic trinkets. Some history stuff building just smelled old. So we booked and were taken on the tour My a very sweet great personality intelligent young lady. The grounds as you enter the area are just average beautiful trees bushes that had a great smell so that was nice. So you can't take pictures inside which I think is crazy because it's supposed to be so historic. The initial impression was just an old house with historical pictures of the family history items that have been installed into the home to give it the feel of the time period of the home and family. Its interesting to hear the legacy of the family. But the tour is so limited to a small area. The renovations are low grade at best. And it's just an old house being able to see areas that have more interest li I e out buildings barns outer building areas would give this home tour so much of a better appeal. The tour was good for what it was but most of the way through our guide got a phone call saying to bring us down and another person the owner would take over because there was another couple waiting to take a tour. We were headed off the last part was very rushed and we fel5 like we paid our 17.00 dollars and thanks for. Coming. It is not a 17.00 tour maybe 10.00 dollars And I'm sure the reason no inside pictures are allowed is because if they were posted on social media they would really deter people from coming and seeing really it's just an old house. With mediocre renovations , and 1980's ciieling fans In most all rooms just to name one thing that just doesnt fit. not really the best time that could be spent doing the tour. Over something else. The owners seem like great people. And as I said our girl was super amazing. It really just was an hour out of our lives we can never get back. We do a lot of things and see many great places since we have moved here and review just about every place we go to. Most all are amazing. Just really fought with this but really felt it was a huge disappointment. Everyone has their own views and likes and dislikes so I still encourage everyone to judge for yourself. But for us it was not that great. Take this as you like or don't. Enjoy it for what it is. And this is just what our...
Read moreMy husband and I booked the tour and overnight stay on a Friday late in July. Charlien is a non-stop host. She responded to my numerous emails quickly. She and her husband are a delightful couple who clearly love the Mansion, adjacent homes and grounds. They have taken great care to showcase the home with beautiful antiques and memorabilia from the Mansion’s past. I highly recommend the tour as it it the only way to access the Mansion. Sarah was our tour guide. She was informative and answered all our groups questions. We pre-booked our tour. I would also recommend staying the night. We stayed in the Manager’s Suite. There were no other guest so we had the common area to ourselves. The accommodations were more than suitable. The bed was very comfortable. We both had the omelette for breakfast. It was delicious. It was served with fruit, a biscuit and a warm pastry that I never had the chance to taste as my husband devoured both of ours. Only guest are allowed on the mansion grounds after closing-a main reason to stay. The garden grounds are beautiful. They are well cared for and very private. The grounds are very dark at night, a tad bit spooky, but definitely worth a visit. My husband and I look forward to another stay the next time we are fortunate enough to be...
Read moreWow...where do I begin? This place is truly a wonder to behold! If you're a fan of anything historical this is an experience you don't want to miss. Me and my husband spent our one year anniversary here and it was an unforgettable experience. The attention to detail is amazing and I truly felt like I had stepped back in time! The guided tour was so much fun and educational as well. The honeymoon suit was so cozy and the bathtub was such a nice inclusion. The breakfast and Victorian tea was delicious and served with so much care! We spent hours just sitting on the veranda enjoying the view and the peacefulness of it all. I can't speak highly enough about the owners. The love they have for this place and each other is so evident. They were so warm and welcoming that we felt at home from the moment we arrived. Would highly recommend this place to EVERYONE and will most definitely...
