This park is an absolute gem. Free to enter and lots of things you can do. Here are the things I did.
1. Falls creek falls - The best falls at this park for sure. Just drive straight all the way from the park entrance to get to the Falls creek falls overlook area. There is a restroom on the left side. Walk past this to get to the overlook. The view from here is awesome if its not foggy. From here, the hike to the bottom of the falls is a steep descend. It is 0.4 miles to the bottom of the hike. It is marked âstrenuousâ because of the slippery steps, tree roots and boulders you have to get through. But take your time, and you will be fine. I took 20 mins to get to the bottom. Once you get to the bottom, the views are just stunning! You can swim at the bottom, or stand directly under the falls. There are a few hiking trails from the bottom of the falls but i didnât do it. The climb back is obviously harder, and takes a lil more time. YOU CAN DO IT!
2. After this I took the Piney Falls and Scenic loop road (first right). The drive is nice with some nice stops.
3. Millikanâs Overlook and Buzzardâs Roost - this overlook is on the right side while on the scenic loop. Make sure you do the very short hike/walk from the side of the overlook to the edge of the cliff. The views are very rewarding.
4. Piney Falls Overlook + Suspension Bridge - Both of this are on one stop. The Piney falls overlook is a very short hike. You can see the falls at a distance but its too far to get pics. After this, i did the suspension bridge trail to the bridge. It is pretty nice. I headed back from the bridge since I had a long drive back to Chicago. But you can continue a lil more on this trail to get views of Piney falls. Not sure if you can make it to the bottom of the falls though.

We love this park! It's so pretty. We always recommend it to our friends and family visiting TN for the first time. The park interpreter Tommy is just a wealth of knowledge on everything park related and gave us alot of useful recommendations for things to do while we were staying here! We do not however recommend the lodge restaurant. Sadly it's been less than decent the last 2 times we've eaten there. The fried cheese curds were delicious! The beer cheese dip was so delicious with the fresh pretzel bites except it appeared to have chunks of something in it bc it wasn't thinned out properly(i thought it was mac n cheese). My grilled cod sandwich was raw in the middle and had zero seasoning while sitting in a water/butter bath from the broccoli they didnt drain before plating. The Cajun pasta was so spicy, but yet flavorless and this was not the first or second time they had heard that. All of this was after we were seated and waited 15 minutes for a waitress to even acknowledge us after notifying the hostess twice. The assistant manager was amazing and apologized for all the goof ups! I guess I just set my expectations a little high for the restaurant due to the new lodge renovations and how magnificent it looks now! The lodge is a beautiful place to relax and hang out, but sadly I would not dine at the restaurant again. We stayed in one of the newer fisherman cabins that were so COOL!!! There's a few minor things they can fix such as tp holders falling off the walls and no lights on the back deck, but all in all the cabins are really nice! We can't wait to stay in the cabin again and bring our own food next time!

Falls Creek Falls! It's one of the very few waterfalls that I have not seen locally....until today! The distance is fairly short to the bottom to experience a powerfully beautiful up close and personal view. You'll even feel the water droplets blowing in your face as you watch from the nearby rocks.
It was dry today. However, I can certainly see it being slippery if it's recently rained if you are trekking down.
Coming out, be prepared for huffing and puffing as you make your way up the stairs unless you are in top shape. However, it is very manageable. There were all abilities, ages, and fitness levels making the hike down when I was there. I was there on a weekday, and there were more people than I expected to see with tourists, so I can imagine the weekends get really packed here. I highly recommend coming out during the week it you can.
The nature center is a great spot to check out. The trail from the nature center to the falls is relatively easy. If you are checking out the over looks the cane creek falls overlook is definitely work the extra elevation steps. I would skip Cane Creek Gulf overlook. There wasn't really anything to see here. Rocky point overlooks lives up to its name. If you're adventurous, you can do some rock hopping to a fairly nice view. However, it does take some dexterity to scramble those rocks, so if you aren't up for that, you can skip the extra elevation steps here, too.
Overall I would my experience here a solid 4.5 but we'll round up to 5 stars. Happy hiking!

The Falls and the natural area around the Falls are beautiful, but I'm always disappointed by my experience hiking the trails here. There are just too many people who treat the Falls like an amusement park. The trail has been worn down to a hard, wide dirt alley. It's less of a nature hike and more of a competition to find a place to park and walk, as well as explore the Falls themselves. The restrooms at the top of the Falls and at the visitor center are currently closed. It is nearly a half mile steep and rocky hike down to the base of the Falls, although there are stairs and a railing in places. The skree around the base of the Falls is challenging to navigate, too. The water itself is cold and really slimy. In the summer, expect a lot of children and families, not all of whom have great outdoor etiquette or basic common sense. We witnessed kids climbing into dangerous territory and needing to be rescued by other visitors because their parents/grandparents couldn't reach them. We saw one older dude standing on a large boulder changing his underwear in full view of all the kids around. If you want to swim or climb on the rocks around the base of the Falls, water shoes are a good idea. The rocks are really slippery and unstable. Just keep in mind, people do get seriously injured and have even died at these Falls. They are beautiful to see, but if you're into a serene experience of nature, this may not be the place for you.
