Too isolated and creepy. It was quiet but too quiet and no signal for services. There's an airport I guess if something happens you go there for safety but the buildings were old and I couldn't find the bathrooms. And the state park office is like 16 miles away I was told and the maps weren't very helpful either. Without directions and knowing where you are and everything is located first it's not good not to have GPS signal available. I found this place trying to find port of Cates landing when I got tired of looking for that one didn't like the vibes didn't even stay the night. There won't be a next time, for a state park this place was disappointing and run down. One of the campers said they charge 25$ a night per spot it's not worth it even with water and electricity hookups. It's too far off the map and snakey looking. I'll try somewhere else next time I'm looking for so where peaceful to rest and relax. It was more stress than what I was...

The Visitor Center property is really beautiful. It houses a museum and store where you can find out more information about the park's history and purchase from a small collections of items. Park rangers are on hand to answer questions, and there are lots of informational displays throughout the property to educate visitors . A small set of bird enclosures currently houses two bald eagles, a couple of red-tailed hawks, a barn owl or two, and barred owls. There are also snake enclosures inside one of the visitor center buildings. An amazing boardwalk at the rear of the property allows you to walk out onto the lake and experience walking among the cypress trees. There's also a beautiful view of a large part of the lake that can be enjoyed at the end of the boardwalk. Highly recommend stopping here before visiting the rest of the...

If you are ever in the Reelfoot lake area, this is a have too place to visit! Inside the main building there is history of the area including Indian artifacts donated actually by my great grandfather RC Donaldson. The museum is actually named after him. Outside they have built a new building housing reptiles, lots of snakes and sometimes little birds that they are rehabilitating. Outside you are able to Eagles and hawks that they have captured that are no longer able to live out in the wild on their own and they are taken care of here until they’re able to either go back on their own. There’s a huge meeting area for banquets I believe the school uses it for prom and other events. If you’re ever in Lake County be...

Most of the South campground was flooded an unusable. We stayed at the North (Airpark) campground which was mostly dry. The South facilities are mostly kept up fairly well but my major complaint is that the entire Airpark area is sorely neglected. The old inn was torn down, as it needed to be, and all other areas here are falling into disrepair. I love the North campground, it's quiet, secluded and very few people camp there, being a long way from the visitors center and on this dead-end road. But it's much closer to the levee and resident bald eagle nests. It's just sad to see the Airpark area deteriorate so much.

We had a great tour with Jerry. Yes, we were lucky to see several bald eagles. But, Jerry is still a great guide and promoter of the park. We were discussing a return trip from Memphis to take one of the kayaking tours when it is warmer. The facility as a whole is nice. We enjoyed visiting for the festival. The place was very busy but still organized. The walkway is very pretty and has a nice view of part of the lake and the swamp there. The young lady showing the birds by the entrance was also very knowledgeable and engaging. Sorry I forget her name. She was working with a few UTM volunteers.
