Great state park with wonderful amenities. This is the best maintained state park I have visited.
The Pecan Ridge cabins are small and cute, with everything you would need to stay comfortably. Some cabin sites have a unobstructed view of the lake, where you can easily capture sunrise or sunset. Since Covid, you are required to bring your own linens, towels, and cookware, but it is like this in many places and not a big deal.
The trails were well-maintained and fun to explore. There are kayaks for rent on a first-come first-serve basis, which my group really enjoyed taking advantage of to go out on the lake.

Read moreWe tent camped at the Oak Grove campground and hiked the Coyote Run Trail. The campsites had a fair amount of distance between, though the restrooms were not the cleanest. We were thankful to be able to have a campfire after many months of burn bans in most state parks and the park conveniently had firewood available for purchase near the ranger station at the entry. Read moreWell maintained state park! We stayed in a small cabin which had beds, a microwave, mini fridge, and ac/heat. Fire pit, grill and picnic table outside. Reasonably priced and clean. Ours had a great lake view as well. This park is large with many campsites and day use areas. Stayed here in the fall...beautiful weather and foliage. But we will return with grandkids in the summer to check...
